I think they are very talented, but I don't really like the subjective judging aspect of them. Especially something like the mogels and ski jumping.
It should surely just be the fastest or the furtherst?
I mean, what's the motto?

Faster, Higher, Stronger
No mention of Twistier, gnarlier, or more upsidedownier!
Don't get me wrong, I loved watching the slope style (not really that into ice dance, or figure skating), but there was a nagging feeling that it was just 6 blokes deciding who was best, and a different set of blokes would have a different answer. Which sits uneasy with me.
Going back to the ski jump, I feel that if an ugly style makes you go further, you shouldn't be punished for it, but it is. Same with the Mogels, you could be super fast, right on the edge, and ungainly, and lose to the slightly slower more elegant looking athlete. I just don't like that.
Imagine if other sports had that, what if the triple jump, had a style element? Or a beautiful free-kick, bending into the top left corner was worth more than a miss-kick that deflects off a defender and dribbles over the line? Or maybe you'd get penalty points for not quite maintaining you arms in the 100m butterfly, or ugly miss-timed shots would only get you half the runs.
Ah, no matter, sorry for derailing the thread. I'm still going to watch it (but not the ice dancing)
