So are you filled with massive outrage or has apathy won?

Has the fun of your iPhone/iPad/Laptop and Kinetic(snigger) outweighed the absolute tracking of you? Would you give them up?

A random link (the first I found really): http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jun/06/us-tech-giants-nsa-data

Best excuse to look at young women on holiday ever. I approve.

Five years ago I would have fought this with every ounce of my being. But I'm tired, and busy and stressed.

Which really upsets me.

The internet and tech has taken a really fucking dark turn - and I think it is too late.

There is that. And then there is my using government satellites to track where i go on my bike so Wullie can mock me. In the sun. Knowing that the second amendment keeps me safe.

Plus that presentation is blatantly bullshit. $20m a year to run prism? Try multiplying that 100 fold if it exists.

What's to fight? Just don't speak to people in Fascist Merka.

I am quite amused though that the £75 mobile expenses I claimed for under 4 days in t'US the other week were almost entirely "CHRIST US AIRLINES FUCKING SUCK" apart from "OOH A NICE MERKIN BEER WHO KNEW"

I was quite surprised they let me in given my long-standing insistence that gah why would I do that. I will be very surprised if they let me in again. Not that I have any intention of that happening. Not that I did that time, stupid work.

The US do what they want hiding behind the Patriot Act each time. What does disturb me is that the US government has said Prism only applies to none US citizens so does that mean everything we do on Facebook, Skype, SKYDrive is subject to NSA snooping? Not that I have anything to hide, but why the fuck should the NSA have access to my wedding pictures?

The US has been milking the impact of 911 for yeas in order to do anything they like. One of the biggest reasons so much damage was done is that the US had little or no internal flight security at the time of 911, if anything had come of snooping on phones or emails then maybe it wouldn’t have happened.

Our government are a joke, you have Hauge stuttering that he can’t comment on Prism, after half the UK press have and there are NSA presentations confirming it on the internet. So you can bet that the UK security agencies have been filling their boots getting info on us and bypassing the “stringent” laws and rules Cameron has been blowing on about today in the process.

To be honest none of it’s a surprise but the hypocrisy and bullshit from governments pisses me off

Not at all I'm storing in the big super cloud, so according to these rules its irrelevant where the storage is just as long as I get a good service and can get access 24\7

Accept now there is some relevance around data location, in that the NSA and CIA snoop at it

The world is ruined, isn't it? Americans won't have another civil war to sort their politicians, government and background manipulators out, and America can fairly easily destroy any outsiders that try. Probably before they even start.

Well that totally justifies routinely spying on THE ENTIRE REST OF THE PLANET then. Fucking CUNTS.

Quote:
Meanwhile, in a news conference alongside UK Foreign Secretary William Hague, Mr Kerry said: "With respect to privacy, freedom and the constitution I think over time, this will withstand scrutiny and people will understand it."
No, no we won't. Not me, anyway. Fucking CUNTS. Especially you, Hague, and everyone else in government who knows about this fucking completely unjustifiable, illegal, unethical behaviour.

Like I said - the world is fucked. And it's not because of alleged terrorists.

Me just now, to my MP wrote:
I am utterly appalled at the revelations about the US' routine spying on the entire planet beyond their borders (PRISM), presumably including me (of course, there being zero transparency I have no evidence of this, only presumption).

I am further appalled by Hague standing next to John Kerry for his statement, providing implicit approval of said widespread, unjustified spying against Britons.

I am interested to know how you, as my MP, are representing my interests to Parliament. As you can no doubt tell, I am disgusted that the US and seemingly UK governments feel justified in treating me and mine like criminals and terrorists.

This is certainly not the freedom and liberty I am alleged to live in a democratic society predicated on.

If you do, it's " US's ", not " US' " - if you get that wrong PRISM will pick you up as a terrorist.

Sorry Bik, there's a room at Gitmo ready for you.

You was taughted wrong.

For the possessive apostrophe after an s, the only time you'd do just the apostrophe rather than " 's " is when you wouldn't say it. So it's " Chris's ", not " Chris' ", but it is "for goodness' sake", not "for goodness's sake".

I've no idea how well or otherwise doctors cope with grammar, as you can't read their handwriting. Lawyers, on the other hand, are awesome. Other than all the shit ones. But I'm awesome.

I was reading the Financial Times this morning (its left by our work coffee cart and there was a queue!)

After the initial denials by Google, Facebook etc, they are now saying that the NSA blocks them from publishing any information about what details they hand out. Further more they are saying that they want to publish high level information on number of requests etc

I sort of agree with the "nothing to fear if you are doing nothing wrong" statement but at the same time it gets to me that they can just look at pictures, emails etc when ever then want.

Also it would probably be secretly run by the CIA and you would be instantly added to their drone target shit list.

Isn't that sort of stuff "in the public domain" according to US law, as it is stored on a company's server somewhere, so you cannot expect a right to privacy over it due to whatnots and dinktspunkts?

Mind you, it's the vagaries of US law at work here*, and, frankly, I wouldn't trust that lot to run a 400m relay race, let a lone a country. It's probably safe to say that most of the technologically advanced powers can do this, they jsut don't have disaffected citizens fighting for a higher cause.

*I find it hard to get cross with laws in other coutnries. If I were to, I suspect I'd be permanently cross.

I'm in the 'no extra s' camp. The Guardian style guide goes that way and, despite their sub-editor shittery, I like the cut of their jib.

It was it being in shoreditch that made it even more brilliant. Vice magazine wrote something about it linked from el reg. I thought it was a joke.

Well, this is now moving into real interesting territory: New docs show NSA taps Google, Yahoo data center links

Ars Technica wrote:
Is PRISM just the tip of the iceberg?

US intelligence access to the mounds of data held by Google and Yahoo goes far beyond the court-approved PRISM program, which was described in some of the first National Security Agency (NSA) leaks to come out this summer. Top secret documents published today by The Washington Post reveal that the NSA has tapped into overseas links that Google and Yahoo use to communicate between their data centers.

The newly revealed program, codenamed MUSCULAR, harvests vast amounts of data. A top-secret memo dated January 9, 2013 says that the NSA gathered 181,280,466 new records in the previous 30 days. Those records include both metadata and the actual content of communications: text, audio, and video.

While this is fucking abhorrent for all sorts of reasons, the idea that Google are furious about interception of their data makes me laugh like a drain.

Pretty much, if you follow the letter of the law. I'm sure if any trouble did arise you could argue your case in court that as it's effectively out of your control, you're innocent of any breach.

Conversely, I suppose GCHQ are exempt from the DPA, else that'd be one really fun subject access request to pay a rennet for.
