Ever get the feeling that Jon Pertwee liked to recycle the same stories word for word?

Quite touching, though given the BBC's recent 'issues' surprised it was greenlighted.

I think it's quite important they do have a nice, open approach to this sort of thing. It was well done, even if those swings are so dodgy I used to go and sit on them for a smoke.

Aye. Not all men are monsters, after all.

I saw a tweet moaning about the doctor meeting his new companion as a child again. It's not quite the same thing as with Amy though, is it? His first meeting with Amy was when she was little but with Clara it was when she was properly grown up.

However I do kind of wish that his companions didn't have to be special in some fashion...

I'd rather have that than have a companion chosen because the producer wanted to fuck them.

Apparently the red tops are reporting on the "scandal" of the JNT book tomorrow.

Thing is that none of them have a copy of the book. Instead they are just extracting the info from the reviews of the pre-release copies.

Cutting edge journalism right there.

[edit] Hearing word that The Mirror may be running with it on the front page. As JNT himself would say, "stay tuned"

I'm now REALLY CROSS. That's a horrid thing to do to Colin Baker. That front page is designed to make you think that he is he centre of the "scandal".

Imagine waking up in the morning and find you're splashed across the front page of a national paper with a 28 year old picture with a tiny disclaimer saying that you weren't involved. It's a fucking disgrace.

And those scumbags say they don't need to be regulated? I'd regulate them with a car battery and some clamps to the nipples! :attitude:

:this: Horrid front page.
Also note how the opening sentence suggests a link to being gay to child abuse. Christ, the Mirror's shit.

(Unrelated: are the Mirror claiming that Satan's now building a ski resort?)

They won't have pictures of him with JNT, and the man from Celebrity Jungle is the next best thing.

Poor old Colin Baker has woken up to find himself splashed all over the papers.

They might have picked the wrong Doctor. Colin is like a dog with a bone when he gets going and good for him!

Indeed! Good for him... It's a horrible headline with a horrible implication. Hopefully he'll get something out of it but you can never discount the damage that these headlines can do.

A Daily Mirror advertiser has just cancelled his bookings due to todays front page.

Just a pin prick to a paper like that, but every little helps.

If you had Doctor Who on series record on BBC HD, you'll be in for a nice surprise later...... no recording. BBC HD was axed last week and the series record won't carry over to BBC1 HD. Bastards!

That's odd, because bbc1 hd already existed on sky, but bbc hd became bbc2 hd.

I've had a series record setup on the box ever since we got it. BBC HD were showing the series so never had a problem.

I'm talking Freesat BTW.

Agreed.

Every new companion episode seems to be a crap story, but this one didn't need to be that.

I enjoyed it. Clara should be a good companion. Mind you, I quite like the stories that allow Matt and co a little space to breathe. Lots of little things in there I loved. The Doctor sniffing the Jammie Dodgers like they were a fine cigar. The Doctor's 'Mobile telephone'. Clara calling the Tardis a 'snog-box'. There was a nice dynamic building there.

I enjoyed it - nothing spectacular but entertaining and solid enough for an opening episode.

I also like the new assistant 800% more than the squawking ginger bird, so it's all good.

I really enjoyed that. Moffat's clearly writing by the numbers. He's pumping out to much content to be anything but.

That said, I really like his numbers. They are excellent numbers.

The old lady rebooting at the end was very dark indeed.

They're OK numbers.

The old lady but was ace, but am I wrong in saying that the first ten minutes of most Moff episodes would make a great episode by themselves? Under RTD his ideas were cherry-picked and squeezed into 2-parters and worked a bloody treat. Now, everything his brain shits out gets in there somewhere, with half of it compressed into the first ten or the last ten minutes of any given story.

We didn't need to piss about with anti-grav motorbikes or secret mind-draining institutions which were expecting the Doctor but didn't have a guard on hand to shoot or cuff or otherwise prevent him from solving everything without even being there really.

It's the wrong sort of incredulity under Moffatt. RTD = aww, come on... Moff = OH, COME ON!
