A guy called Babelcolour colourised Doctor Who episodes in his spare time and also put together excellent tribute sequences. He never put adverts on his videos.

So good was his work, the BBC commissioned him to re-colour the story Mind Of Evil which hasn't existed in colour for 35+ years. The work took him ages (imagine recolouring two and a quarter hours of footage, frame by frame). The DVD is being readied for release as we speak.

Then, a couple of days ago, the BBC complained to Youtube about his account and he's now had to withdraw nearly all of his videos.

What the fuck is wrong with these people? He's a fantastic advert for the series on Youtube. They should be working with him not trying to shut him down.

At this rate Youtube will become cat videos and fucking Vevo clips.

I hope the BBC lawyers abacuses fall apart and they choke on the beads.

This week's was visually stunning, and I loved the bit at the start where the Doc was stalking Clara from the moment her parents met (something that 9 hinted he did with Rose, after all) but the story itself was a bit empty. Does every alien planet have an oriental bazaar?

I've really felt sorry for the production team on Dr Who during the past few years - they obviously put a lot of effort into making it look as good as possible, but sadly they have to make do with some truly abysmal scripts. It must be so dispiriting.

So, tonight's episode was pants. Very nice work on the Aliens, but they forgot a story that makes sense.

Looked lovely, story rubbish ("Ah, but he was explaining to her that they never run away").

With all the negative reactions to this week's episode, perhaps it's for the best that I've given up watching Doctor Who now.

Yep, it feels quite reminiscent of the 80s version which obviously appeals to those of us who grew up with the show then.

I think there were some positives about this episode - Matt Smith did some very good being a bit miserable bits which I think are his forte. It did look quite nice.

The story was pretty much bobbins, true, but I think the sentimental emotional side was fairly well handled.

However when watching it last night I fell asleep before the end. So I had to catch up this morning.

Also has anyone noticed that the date of Clara's mum's death is the date of the return of Doctor Who? March 2005... SIGNIFICANCE.

I thought it looked familiar! Does that suggest she was killed by an Auton?

Or at least killed by an action (or inaction) by the Doctor ?

It's got to be something Doctor related obviously. Normally I'm not good at spotting these things but now I know how Moffat lays clues and things, I observe more.

However I'm obviously still not good at figuring out what it all means.

Bit of a meh episode, that one.

Though Clara is just so amazing. A cross between Christina Ricci and the eldest daughter from Modern Family.

Could do, I though the idea was to remind doctor of humanity. Rather than being the destroyer of worlds...

Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) is still the best companion he's had since the revival, by far.

I never thought I'd say that about a Catherine Tate performance, but it really knocks the rest of them into a cocked hat.

I agree about Donna - she was excellent. I think the age of the companion had much to do with it. Amy, Clara, etc, are young and not really in a position to assert themselves, whereas I can often recall Donna sort of telling off the Doctor and standing her ground.

Anyway, just watched last night's episode and very much enjoyed it. Basically Alien on a submarine, and jolly good entertainment.

Just watched last night's. I think it had promise but it failed the first test of any submarine movie: I didn't feel claustrophobic at all. Not as bad as last week's, but left me with a sense that it could have been done better.

Been done.

I find this photo somewhat at odds with the role that she later went on to take as the head of Woman In TV and Film, who would have probably denounced such photos as sexist and degrading. Right kids?

Bomber subs are huge. The attack subs are the small ones.

Heh, I quite enjoyed that one and the missus complained throughout about them setting it on a submarine because of the "claustrophobic" setting. Definitely Gatiss's best episode since the Charles Dickinson one he did in Ecclestone's season.

Mine comes from reading about the K boats. The UK's steam powered submarines, which pretty much fulfulled only half of what they were meant to do consistently.
