That's excellent.

My recent excursions aroudn the internet loking for little mens inspiration has made me realise just how many bajillions of non Games Workshop sci-fi little mens there are. Many of them much, much better than GW's output.

Used one of my new Citadel Glazes to great effect last night on my Great Unclean one. My plan of base coating him in a normal flesh colour then using a yellow glaze to sicklyfy him has worked out well. Then I washed him in more dirty sepia... should take some pics at this stage really before the home straight.

Bought some Plasticard and Aluminium tubing yesterday too as I'm thinking of scratch building him a Plague sword and having it sticking out of the ground. The dreadnought base is full of cracks so it might work out nicely... or be too much with everything else I've done already.

There we go, Cataphractii Terminators.

I think I'll fling pennies at them for those.

They don't look like Terminators. From that photo, they are psotively armless (BANG! - Ed). I'm amazed yuo have the patience to paint such creations. I don't think I ever did.

Pas de problemo, duder. If you haven't already, just bung me the postage cost (whatever 4 stamps cost these days), and I'll take seeing photies of it painted properly as payment.

Looking at all the parts I have for Lords ofs Changes, I think I'll be using the Kissy fur wings with the head and body I already had (I prefer the skelington head) for the actual Greater Daemon and use the Kissyfur Body/head for a Daemon Prince conversion. :nerd:

Maybe. Either way it will be called 'Kissyfeathers'.

I have a friend whose sister works there. I shall try to make some askings.

Base for your face. GW Dreadnought base with Green stuff slime, maggots & rotten shite. I'd pressed the assembled miniature into the Greenstuff while it was wet so it would look set in when I'd painted the base.

The base is 60mm diameter.

He's just over 50mm tall himself (plus the height of the base).

Ish... a bit taller but much bulkier. He's by far the heaviest too out of everything I've painted so far.

Old school stuff still has the lead in it, so they have more weight.

Anyone picking up the new look White Dwarf? I'll probably get it simply for the Chaosy stuff. I hope they've improved the writing. I used to pore over WD back in my teenage years, but the few I've bought over the last few months haven't had more than a flicking through to get paint ideas.

I got the last one due to iut being a Dark Vengeance special, oh and I bought the issue that showcased the new paint range.

I know exactly what you mean about WD, the old mags had loads more painting/modelling features and stories from what I remember.

Dimrill, what do they mean when they talk about the Forgeworld Primarchs thusly: "Primarchs will be featured and will have models, but are apocalypse only." Is that the larger scale than WH40k? or suttin different altogether?

I'll be buttering my arse for these whateverz.

Same scale, Apocalypse was/is special rules for larger confrontations. The sort where you can field Titans etc.

Fucking idiots for jumping on the Olympics merch bandwagon.

Hope the marketing/sales folks involved get chopped and Hornby survive through this.

They own Corgi, Airfix, Humbrol and Scalextrix as well as the Hornby train stuff IIRC.

Sadly all of them are getting progressively shitter quality (particularly the Hornby stuff), which is half of their problem, although Airfix kits have always been dire compared to the likes of Revell.

No they haven't, well not Airfix, anyway. New tool Airfix kits are excellent. And Revell isn't a byword for quality, that's Tamiya/Hasegawa.

Speaking of which WTFF?

http://www.hasegawa-model.co.jp/e-w/NEW ... /FA03.html

Perfect for all those 1/12 scale office dioramas.

How many new toolings have there been? All the Airfix kits I've bought in the last 5 years (some within the last 12 months) have been crappy, badly-detailed, poor fitting kits with raised panel lines. I have binned a number of them.

Quote:

Revell kits are generally pretty good, except for some of the older toolings of large 1/72 WW2 bombers. All of the 1/72 fighters (WW2 and modern) I've bought from Revell have been good, well detailed kits that fit with little trouble. The same really can't be said for Airfix. The reason I mention Revell rather than Tamiya is because Revell are about the same price as Airfix (whereas Tamiya cost a bomb, as you know), and considerably better.

Tamiya are beyond excellent, yes. Hasegawa are good also.

Academy are good, but can be variable. I have an F-16 kit which doesn't even remotely resemble an actual F-16's fairly distinctive panel lines, but the Mig-23 is quite lovely.

Italeri are often pretty good, sometimes bad.

No they haven't, well not Airfix, anyway. New tool Airfix kits are excellent.

How many new toolings have there been? All the Airfix kits I've bought in the last 5 years (some within the last 12 months) have been crappy, badly-detailed, poor fitting kits with raised panel lines. I have binned a number of them.

And Revell isn't a byword for quality, that's Tamiya/Hasegawa.

Revell are a proper mixed bag in my experience. Some of them are good some are dodgy old tools acquired from defunct mfrs some are just old but mostly they aren't investing as heavily in new tools as Airfix seem to be.

I'm not sure exactly how many but there's quite a lot of the new tool Airfix kits now, most of the popular WWII types and quite a few others too and they keep rolling them out.

If you're ever looking you can usually spot the new tools by the fact that the box art tends to be CGI, (thought it can sometimes be a bit hard to tell). I always check on the internet though as there's too many good kits out there to be bothered with the crappy ones.

There have been loads of new tool kits.

I've built the Zero 1:72 (lovely)
And in my to build pile I've:
Two BF109's (different variants)
Hurricane.
Two Spitfires (different variants)
MiG 15
Harrier
Kittyhawk
That's just off the top of my head.

You can double check the serials online to see if they're a new tool Kissyfur.

Awesome! Good to know - I shall overcome my Airfix prejudice and pick one up then. Although my backlog means that Mrs K isn't even operating a one in one out policy at the moment - I have about 20 unmade kits, and I have to make them all before I can buy any more... :)

I must have about that many myself. :S

Well, at least now the weather is bad I'll have time to actually build the buggers. :)

After I've done the Lord of Change of course. ;)

Games Day Anthology book available in ltd numbers from Black Library. They sell out quick, so hurry. Will only appreciate in value, too.
