My back garden is pretty big, problem with it is that keeping on top of the lawnmowing is a pain in the arse.

All things being equal, I'd much rather just have a patio :P

I'm considering putting a basketball half-court at the back near the treeline, or maybe taking the treeline out (there's a fair bit more garden behind them).

I want back to look at that bit after discovering it last year, thinking how much I would have loved that bit at the back when I was a kid. A FOREST for GI Joe to fight Cobra in!

Heh, yes. But I'm also working through a big batch of hockey match stag night photos for someone, so you'll have to wait 'till the weekend. More then!

Now you have me very curious, please explain!

Dad's side of the family lived in Malaya in the 50's and early 60's and my grandma was a community theatre producer there. She'd put on Shakespeare with the local actors, design the sets and bully friends and strangers into building it and making costumes and such. This meant that all the Scottish nobles in the play wore lovely ornate Malaysian armour. Unfortunately they got a little over enthused with the hitting each other with swords bit, and so she didn't have to fake much in the way of blood.

Grandma would essentially barge into people's houses and demand there and then that they give up their lives for the production. And since she swore like an incredibly foul mouthed sailor when she wanted to they frequently buckled under quickly. It's odd, nearly all her friends were communists, bohemiam artists, gay folk and travellers and yet she was a Tory. Managed to get most of them to vote for her later when she became Tory councillor and eventually Mayor back in Yorkshire.

haha thats awesome! Which part of Malaysia? I have some friends in the Malaysian theater sceane at the moment, was over there a few months back and was instructed to go and see their new play 'Malaysian Girls : how ugly can it get', which to be fair was hilarious.

It was a in a town just outside Kuala Lumpur. Which is now probably part of the city. Glad to hear the theatre tradition still goes strong, looks like my grandma left a legacy! I've never been there myself though, dad prefers not to revisit the place since all his memories are boyhood ones and he (wisely to my mind) does not want to spoil them.

All photos so far have been added to the event on G+.

If I could make it public, it'd probably be better.

[edit]Aha!

Why, YES THERE IS, my friend.

I tried a new portrait technique with this one, whacking the saturation way down and adding a colour wash for a more muted, softer effect. Um, do you like? If you think you look a bit off I can tinker again! :)

So tomorrow, while you're all having funtimes at the barbecue, I'll be trying on bridesmaid dresses with my sister and mother, for my sisters wedding. Which is in June 2013. The last time she had me trying on bridesmaid dresses, she split up with her boyfriend. I'm secretly hoping that'll happen this time, too as the wedding is in France and I can think of much better ways to spend the £XXXX it'll cost for us to go.

I want to get drunk in the rain :(

Quick, get on a plane now. One of us will pick you up from the airport!

Get a plane to Liverpool, train to Leeds, Throughsilver will meet you there, and I'll pick you up on my way through.

If I meet Throughsilver in Leeds, chances are slim we'd make it to Grim...s house :hat:

Also: flights are £124 :(

How did I miss this post?

Ta very much :) I wouldn't dream of asking an artiste to go back and try again! There was a black and white one too, taken a bit later I think... yep, I'm a vain bastard. Thanks Pete :D
