I assume all this goes on is what search terms you use, and being as I always use direct links and never search for anything anymore, a couple of searches can massively change the result.

Hmmm... I wonder how often it updates....

It might be based on tracking you through sites that have google ad stuff on them, not just searches. If that's possible..
