So, I've got about twenty people coming over for a party tonight. What shall I cook them for dinner?

I thought about chilli, but I did that last year, and anyway, I'd rather have something that you didn't have to sit down at a table to eat.

Any ideas? Or should I just stick to buffet-style food?

Make scotch eggs. They're a fiddle but they're delicious and your friends will have a new found respect for you thanks to your industry. DO IT

Fajitas.

A nice big stir fry of spicy chicken strips, then separate bowls of mixed peppers, chillis, sour cream, guacamole, etc. A plate full of flour tortillas and let them make their own as spicy or as soft as they like.

Yeah, that's not a bad idea. It's still a bit sit-downy, though.

"Sit-downy" food bits at parties help to keep your carpet clean mate!

I must admit. I hate eating standing up. If I came to your party and you forced me to sit down and eat something, I'd appreciate it.

The CFO has told me we're having chilli, so we're having chilli.

If I'd have know I'd have started it much earlier - I tend to leave them cooking for around twenty hours - this one will only have six :S

Buy loads of cheap vodka and have a "bring food" party.
