As much as I dislike John Terry, that allegation officially came from a viewer who apparently lip-read on video after the event.

Why should a professional worker be automatically demoted for an allegation levelled at him from a random, before any formal decision is reached?

Suspended, rather than demoted.

[edit] Agreed on the press conference thing, though. Too many questions are off limits nowadays.

Yes, although I realise the necessity of such things, and the symbiotic relationship that exists between players and the press, it would have made so much more sense to say "Sorry, John Terry isn't available today, instead, we've made a sock puppet from stuff we found in a locker, and it will respond to your questions with the usual rhetoric of 'the lads giving it all', 'respecting opponents' and 'boyhood dreams being fulfilled'. David James wanted to comment on the ongoing Eurozone crisis, but Lamps gived him a wedgie and hanged him from a locker door." The FA don't strike me as the most astute organisation, even at the best of times, and 'no comments upon this topic otherwise we'll walk' is stupid. I've noticed that journalists are using it more and more now, seemingly as an excuse to write some bland sycophantic piece about (most recently) Justin Timberlake and how he isn't just a singer. I know journalism isn't by far what it used to be, but nowadays, it is terrible that they explain why they didn't ask X,Y or Z as they were afraid of the interview ending.

I wish I hadn't clicked on that link - it got me nosing around some of the starter sets on there. Learning the guitar is one of those things that I've always wanted to do but have always known full well I wouldn't apply enough time to learning it properly.

I don't think Sam uses his starter set any more, want me to ask him about it when he gets home?

I'm sure the actual number is off the scale. My game involves deliberately setting Zardoz up to make an innuendo. If he takes a nibble at the bait, you get a point.

I've tried this before. It isn't as much fun, nor as easy, as is made out.

On the plus side, I no longer have to visit any garden centers.

We could really do with topic icons so people know what sort of a topic it is.

That would be a perfect one if, say, you've got a serious thread and want it kept on topic. We should do that.

I once had a barrel full of monkeys, too. That was fun for about a two days, then it went quiet and began to smell.

My Mother and sister have decided I'm having a 'crisis' due to turning 30 next year. Excellent. I may have to play on it now I know that :D

Have decided I'll probably avoid free-weights on a Monday night; I seem to have acquired a stalker after last weeks bout of super helpful advice. No massive loss, it just means I have to drag my arse out of bed on a Monday morning. Absolutely destroyed my legs tonight though, I'm pretty sore now, so much so that walking and driving is tricky.

Like those people who write to the Times to announce they've heard the first cuckoo of spring, I heard the first Slade of the season yesterday. Came slightly later than last year, I think, although it was being sung by a toy dog.

Guitars hold their value pretty well. I've probably got to unload my starter electric at some point, and have no fear I'll get back easily as much as I paid for it.
I started by playing about half an hour every other day or so. Now I don't even play every week sometimes, but I'm glad I can pick it up and strum a few notes when I want to.

Once you can play the chords G, C, A and D, you've pretty much got the tools to play any song, ever.

Being able to play the guitar is nice, even if it is just you you're playing for, I'm pleased I've picked it up again.

I've been playing guitar for 22 years now. Which is a much better way of saying that I played guitar for 5 years, and i've owned guitars for the following 17.

I really should pick one of them up again...
