How much difference is my spending 20-30 minutes a few times a week on a rowing machine going to make on a 'loose the belly' front? I can't be arsed going to the gym, running or going outside. I figure a £70 rowing machine might do some good.

I'd be tempted to put the money towards a Kinect and the EA Sports Active thingy - although it'd probably cost up to £100 all in. I had a rowing machine for a while and I soon got bored of it.

Not much. You can expect to burn about [url]600 kcal per hour[/url], depending on your bodyweight and how vigorously you go for it. So you might burn off about 1200 kcal per week, or which is weight loss of about half a pound a week. In contrast, there's 280 kcal in a Mars Bar, so cutting four Mars Bars worth of food out of your diet each week have the same effect.

My girlfriend's white MacBook seems a bit screwed. She spilt coffee on the keyboard, and that part no longer works. The MacBook is three years old and our of warranty, without AppleCare. Is it possibly salvageable at all as a computer?

You could just use a USB keyboard and mouse. Any household insurance?

I've checked, and the keyboard input is very scrambled, e.g. typing "mouse" results in "iortj". So not completely fucked, just, err, messed up input.

USB keyboard as a temporary measure, used, by German female. Not much help preserving the portability aspect of the computer she needs though. Not actually sure about the insurance; will definitely ask her when she's awake.
