I expect because Einstein, the fool, was using the traditional definition of energy (i.e. the capacity to do work), rather than the New Age Homoeopathic definition (i.e. a mystical power/force that doesn't exist but we include to bamboozle/trick/cheat those gullible enough to buy into our mumbo-jumbo).

So we can, therefore, conclude that Einstein was in fact a complete idiot.

And don't forget, we must all be energy, because we all vibrate because... string theory.
