Did you hear you were successful, or did it just happen? Anything interesting in the update?

I got an email this morning to tell me I'd been successful. Not turned my Xbox on yet, though.

Got an email saying I was successful - the update just happened automatically, though. So far, it's exactly the same :p

There's the avatar marketplace thing, and some other subtle changes. There's a new "awards" bit under the achievements thing in the Xbox Guide. Think it's stuff your avatar gets for completing games and stuff. It says I don't have any, though...

The achievement bit is pretty cool. You can now scroll through and see the achievement conditions without loading each one up separately. Also, it tells you which games you've 100% completed and gives you an overall 432432/432432334324234 and 321231/322312122 thing for gamerscore and number of achievements.

Thats highly irrelevant though. I had Sega Superstars tennis in my machine for 3 minutes before I pulled the disk out and shat all over it before breaking the piece of shit into a million pieces. That'll skew my gamerscore percentage unfavourably. Does this mean Dimrill will now only start games that he knows he can whore to keep the near the magic 100%?

Under NXE you can delete any game with 0 gamerscore from your profile history, though.

That's not new - NXE added the percentage per game, but I think the total gamerscore/possible gamerscore thing has always been around.

Like Myp said re Simpsons. Can you not delete >0 points? Stupid 360.

I'm glad I stopped caring about gamerscore and percentage completed. The alternative sounds like a lot of work.

IT IS NEW!

When you look at your cheevs, the first "panel" is a summary of the games you've 100%ed and the aforementioned numbers. The info has always been there, but not presented like this. SO THERE.

What Jonarob reads:

myp wrote:

And then, on your wedding, he bursts in when the question "Does anyone know of any reason these two may not be married" is asked, declares his love for you and you run off into the sunset, leaving Ange to cope with the Gaywood on her own.

For I shall be paralysed with laughter at such an occurance. :D

Bonus points if he's painted himself orange and is wearing a blonde fright wig to make the transition from Ange less abrupt.

Pah. I've been working to that sort of thing for the life of my box thanks to MyGamerCard and now TrueAchievements. I'm 63.14% complete btw.

Something I just read -- the PS3's "platinum" trophy, which you get for receiving all the other trophies for the game (so the 1000/1000 equivalent), always excludes all DLC. So you can always get exactly one platinum trophy per game, and you can always do it without any further expenditure.

That's a nice touch.

That can't be right! Take GTI Club+, for example. When it came out, it had a load of un-winnable trophies for the car pack that hadn't been released yet. It came out a month ago, and it was about a fucking fiver. I still got it, like.

I'm only 1 trophy away from my first platinum. Unfortunately, it requires completing Uncharted on Crushing. Which is bastardly hard. I *think* I got up to the plane.

Urgh!

I can only imagine what the final level (the ship) is like. That was irritating enough on Normal.

Interesting. I was thinking of disc games. Some PSN games (I have now found out) don't have platinum trophies at all -- including Pain and GTI Club. Even the Bluray release of Pain (which I had no idea existed) doesn't have a platinum trophy, which is a bit silly.

Even more silly is the guy I just found who only plays games on his primary account that he can get the platinum trophy for. He has an entire other account for games he cannot complete. Bonkers.

There are some strange folk out there!

To be honest, I don't think the whole Platinum Trophy still attainable after DLC is a "feature" any way. It's more a case of the trophy being set to unlock after the other trophies have been unlocked. Any DLC trophies will simply be ignored by the Platinum Trophy unlock bit of code because it doesn't know any better. You can still 1000 360 games when they have 1250 attainable points, if you know what I mean.

What is an interesting question, is, if they brought out DLC, for, say, Lost Via Domus with 250 extra points, would I lose my "100% complete" medal in the new interface?

Well, curiously, this updated for me this morning have had to cope with the crushing* disappointment of being rejected while both Jonarob and Myp were accepted. Now, however I can parade the "2" on my profile title bar, compared to their miserable "1". I rock.

* - Not overly crushing. More like having a Guinea pig sitting on your head.

When you have your percentage score displayed you want to go back and complete your games more.

Before you would get bored and go buy a new game. It seems to me that such a focus on the gamerscore will ever so slighty decrease the number of games bought because you spend longer on the ones you already have.

Still can't wait to log in and get this eventually though

I'm sure you can see where I'm coming from though. For a casual user like myself I will spend more time going back and eking out those few extra points maybe, as I haven't yet had the full value from the game, rather than spend another thirty pounds when I havent even finished the games I've got.

I'm with the doc. Achievements and gamer points are things that happen to me as I'm playing a game, not something I strive for.

I've gone for the odd one, only if whatever it is that I need to do it sounds like fun though. I wouldn't enjoy looking at a map on the internet and then visiting every one of the marked locations in the game to get something. If I'd got most of them by playing the game and I had only one left to get for an achievement then I'd probably feel a bit compelled to find it.

mark, it's that last sentence that is exactly what I'm getting at. I'm sure it's notgoing to kill the industry or anything.

I love achievements. I'm not quite as obsessed as I used to be, but there is an element of OCD there, and it genuinely troubles me sometimes. Like, I really want the Halo 3 Legendary achievement and it's actually impacting on my day to day life.

What is an interesting question, is, if they brought out DLC, for, say, Lost Via Domus with 250 extra points, would I lose my "100% complete" medal in the new interface?

I think it probably would.

I'm on the new interface but havent really used it yet , however for my "100%" section i only have 2 XBLA games listed , and i do have 1000 points for Fallout3 (but have not touched the DLC) so i think if you had 100% and they up the number it'll vanish
