See this road?
I found out today that it was never adopted, ie. it doesn't belong to the council, it actually belongs to me.
Plenty of people drive their cars on it, and park on it, and have houses on it.

What should I do with it? So far I have done a few handbrake turns safe in the knowledge that the local bobby can only stand and watch (and then, possibly, only with my permission).

Next step: Look into private clamping laws :evil:

Clearly, you should forge in steel an enormous motorised shoe and hat and have them patrol the area.

They can certainly STOP maintaining it now.

Are you sure? Do you own the entire block of flats that you live in, or something? Or do you merely have a part share in the freehold of the block and therefore actually only own a part share in the freehold ownership of the road?

And as for other people parking and driving, there may well be an established right of way now.

Grim..., how did you come to own the road in the first place? Have you inherited it, or something? If so, why did the person you inherited it from own it.

I am quite interested and quickly rifling through my chest of drawers to see if I have own long-forgotten streets that I have known nothing about. The Harrow Road, or something like that. Maybe the North Circular.

He's so rich now that councils and governments just assume he owns everything, and bend right over.

In bed last night I had this thought: Does the road get to have a postcode, and if it doens't have one, can you "apply" for one? If so, try and bag "0ZZ" or something cooooool looking!

You should definitely change its name to "Grim... Beard Rd." too.

If it's your road, can you sell the naming rights, like they do with football stadiums. OK, living on Starbucks Street, or Tesco Avenue might be a but crap, but at least you'll get a few quid.

There is an unadopted road near me and it's a state, ofc the council won't do anything to help fix it as they didn't adopt it and turn their backs. So who's road isi t? If many people live on it...
