Holland will be someday like Hungary.
No one will believe they were once among the greats.
Well this scenario is getting quite a bit of discussion here as well, naturally.... You endless discussion about to save the dutch game (with people arguing at the same time tha the dutch style is too old-fashion, while others claim we should return to the dutch style, since we forgot it...) , with a football association that keeps on blundering (the whole hiddink-blind-advocaat fiasco with damaged so many people).. and the simple fact that others just caught up, and our traditional advantages (early to pick up players from colonies, open to a new style, being in the middle of western europe), have either been met by others, or simply outweighed by the influx of money, which mean no dutch club can keep good players over the age of 23 (which used to be 26 in the bergkamp age)...
There are some positive points as well of course, with ajax talents Kluivert en de Ligt been named talents of the year last week, the road to the Europa League final last year (even though that final itself was cynically won by Mourinho), and games like last weeks 0-3 against Portugal.... I didn't watch it live, as international friendlies mostly are boring, but you saw some really class attacks and an proper idea for the first time in years...
ps. english drunkenness reached a new level last week..
