I like the theme tune to American Dad (I think it is called) that starts off 'Good morning U. S. A!'

About 3 billion times better.

The Simpsons should have packed up and gone home about 8 years ago frankly. Can't believe it's still going.

Family Guy is better than 21st century Simpsons, but nothing beats the first ten years.

This! I would use that thing on the left but i'm posting off my phone in a hotel room and i can't get over there.. Annoying.

Anyway, the early simpsons are great! Not talking anything away from family guy though, but blue harvest.. Did they need to make that?

I love Family guy! Stewie is my fave, then Brian :) I have series 1-4.
American dad is okay, not as good as FG-but the later series gets better, as with all series. Series 1-3 I think
I agree with the Simpsons comment-it's gone a bit crap

Family Guy is ace, it can be a bit hit and miss as with most shows that churn out so many episodes but when it's funny it's one of the best things on telly.

I still think South Park is the best, Family Guy is ace though.

Well, it goes without saying that South Park is the best, but that wasn't the question asked. ;)

Seriously, has anyone bothered with American Dad? It just seems like a parody of a parody (as pointed out by Messrs Parker and Stone).

Hmmm. 2:13 am post. Epic misspelling. How's your headache this morning? Does it feel like a small animal has been using your mouth, first as a latrine, and later a mausoleum?

Grim... wrote:

MacFarlane has stated numerous times that the line was always supposed to be "laugh 'n' cry". It really does sound like "f'in cry" on the earlier seasons, from season 4 he re-recorded it and pronounced the words more carefully. [citation]. Given how close to the knuckle Family Guy is prepared to go ("Join the US Army... all the brown women you can rape!") I don't think he'd bother to lie about it.

I think The Simpsons manages about one episode a season now that's pretty much as good as it ever was, e.g. the 24 parody in season 18 is very good. Admittedly 1-in-22 isn't great odds but apparently it's big enough to bring the punters in.

I'm not a fan of Family Guy personally, though it has made me chuckle occassionally. I just feel that the Cartoon Wars South Park episode is too bang on the money. "You think that's bad, what about the time..."

I adore golden age Simpsons, but it began to look a bit shaky as early as seasons 7 and 8, beyond that and it is dead to me. DEAD to me, y'hear. Fucking Simpsons.

The 2 occasions where I watched it lasted about 5 minutes, utter gash.

I think the Simpsons is still good.

Trouble is, it's just good.

It's not brilliant any more and I only tend to catch new episodes by accident, because it's just not something I feel the need to see.

Compared to the show at its peak, it's nothing. Compared to most other sitcoms, it's good.

This. All of this.

The first couple of seasons of Family Guy are pretty good. The third's OK. The fourth's almost completely laugh-free. I haven't bothered with anything else.

If you didn't think the Tearjerker ep was brilliant then you need a replacement laugh gland.

Not seen it. I've only ever stumbled upon it while channel hopping and it's never kept me longer than 5 mins.

Please send me the series in question on DVD and I'll give it another go. ;)

I wasn't too keen on Family Guy the first few times I saw it, but it's grown on me.
I now think it's quite brilliant (and American Dad ain't too shabby either).Definitely funnier than (recent) Simpsons and (IMO) also superior to South park (there's something about the deliberate nastiness in SP that makes me feel queasy),.

I've only watched FG on BBC3 so I don't know if the later series' match up.

I was surprised how young Macfarlane looked when I saw him being interviewed. He has the voice[s] of a fifty year old.

I nearly choked to death from laughing at a scene of Family Guy once. It was really, really bad. I couldn't breathe and I couldn't stop- this went on for about half an hour, and every time I even think back to that scene, it more or less has the same effect.

The Simpsons has never, ever done that to me. So, yes, Family Guy is tonnes better. I'm not too keen on American Dad though.

I can't remember which episode it actually was 8) but it was the scene when Peter's finger's explode off, and Jesse is crawling across the road, trying to get to one of them, and then a bird flies down and picks it up. It doesn't sound like much, and it probably does just come down to the fact that I'm a bit of an easily amused idiot. Does anyone know which bit I'm talking about though?

Nah it's brilliant. Herbert is pretty funny, my little sister loves him and keeps doing impressions of him all the time when I speak to her on the phone because they live far aways :(

I have most of the episode's and I do remember most of them (sad I know) I also love the fights Peter has with the rooster at random intervals! Oh god I nearly forgot the episode where Stewie tries to dive into his highchair because he's eaten those pancakes with drugs on them!! That was funny as hell

I'm still thoroughly enjoying it and have long since given up on The Simpsons if that's any kind of yardstick. Mrs B still watches The Simpsons and I honestly cannot understand why; when I watch it I'm actually embarrassed for them.
