Good morning!

The Gondorians are rejoicing after having killed off a Ringwraith.

But not all of them are still around to celebrate.

Take DavPaz for instance. He's lying on the floor, his possessions strewn everywhere, his brains likewise. He's had his head bashed in by a rock and is very dead.

Mr Dave is doing little better. He's been run through by some sort of evil sword.

Both were simple Gondorians.

On we go!

[playerlist]
Lonewolves
Mr Russell
TheVision
KovacsC
Saturnalian
zaphod79
Cras
Grim...
MrChris
ApplePieOfDestiny
Morte
Malc
Squirt
Goddess Jasmine
Trooper
[/playerlist]

8 votes for a lynch; day ends at 12:30pm Thursday

OK, after the MaliGate went down, here's how the voting for Mali went (in order):
Davpaz (good)
Mr Dave (good)
Lonewolves
Mr Russell
grim...
kovacs
[Malc says the logic is suspect at this point and votes Mr Russell]
[Squirt doesn't vote and says he is conflicted]
Trooper

Final voting looked like this:
malc: 1 (ApplePieOfDestiny)
mr russell: 5 (Morte, MaliA, Goddess Jasmine, Cras, MrChris)
malia: 10 (Grim..., Mr Dave, Mr Russell, Lonewolves, Squirt, Trooper, KovacsC, DavPaz, Malc, zaphod79)

Not voted: 2 (thevision, saturnalian)
[Malc mentions TheVision]
Squirt
[Cras sticks with Mr Russell]
[MrChris votes for Mr Russell]
Zaphod79
Malc

Flip, I paseted the final voting into the wrong place. Try again:

kovacs
[Malc says the logic is suspect at this point and votes Mr Russell]
[Squirt doesn't vote and says he is conflicted]
Trooper
[Malc mentions TheVision]
Squirt
[Cras sticks with Mr Russell]
[MrChris votes for Mr Russell]
Zaphod79
Malc

Final voting looked like this:
malc: 1 (ApplePieOfDestiny)
mr russell: 5 (Morte, MaliA, Goddess Jasmine, Cras, MrChris)
malia: 10 (Grim..., Mr Dave, Mr Russell, Lonewolves, Squirt, Trooper, KovacsC, DavPaz, Malc, zaphod79)

Not voted: 2 (thevision, saturnalian)

Now the Ringwraiths definitely used a kill last night, so did they use their investigate power or their block power? I'm not sure which it would have benefited them more to use.

We know Gollum doesn't have the ring because Davpaz was killed so there's probably going to be another death tonight. If there's not a Gollum death at any point then Gollum immediately knows who Frodo is so Gandalf will have to start protecting them overnight at that point.

Most of interest to me is that Gandalf probably investigated and now knows someone's exact role. This can provide the basis of a solid roleclaim hopefully at some point, as we can either confirm the roles of the investigated, or be suspicious of someone who claims to have only investigated dead people who's roles are revealed.

:this: ?

So if no Gollum kill then Gollum has the ring and Frodo will be trying to steal it back but it does not reveal Frodo or Gollum

We may end up with a Benny hill type situation if both Frodo and Gollum know who each other is they just steal the ring back each evening ;-)

Indeed, Gollum can be roleblocked.

If there is no Gollum death then Gollum knows who Frodo is because he has just tried to steal the ring off him, and succeeded. Gollum's win condition is to kill damn near everyone, so he'll quite happily push for a Frodo death at that point. Frodo still has to guess who Gollum is at this point to steal the ring back.

The only way Gollum doesn't know who Frodo is in the event of no Gollum death is that Gollum was roleblocked, so APOD is correct when he said "not sure if true".

the blocker died yesterday, unless they are now down to 2 people they couldn't block.

No, no, no.

"If there are fewer than two, [The Ringwraith leader] himself can go out and use any ability his remaining colleague does not possess."

So there might be a temporary situation where a roleblock is not used if there are three ringwraiths left, but when there's only two left again they can use any two abilities each night.

Don't think so, he goes invisible and is immune to night effects except having his ring plundered at that point.

I think it's highly unlikely that we picked 2 from the same baddie team to be the highest 2 vote tallies. Nothing more than that.

Do you know why I asked that question? Because you were my highest FOS from yesterday.

You voted to finish off MaliA (in my mind to put you above suspicion) minutes before the deadline, but then today you shook that, and with your answer now I actually think I believe you. Damn this is difficult.

Dammit, I think DavPaz still owed me 10 Gondollars.

Although only one Gondorian was killed by the Ringwraiths, which must mean that one was blocked or tried to kill Aragorn.

Quote:
1 Ringwraith Leader
Wants the ring and the company to die. Each night he can choose two of his colleagues to venture out and use their abilities. If there are fewer than two, he himself can go out and use any ability his remaining colleague does not possess. If killed, a random ringwraith will assume duties of leader.

0-2 Ringwraith Soldiers
Each night, if ordered to do so, the solider can go out and kill someone.

So the only way you would expect 2 kills is if there were 2 ringwraith soldiers and they were both sent out to use their abilities. The role is 0-2 so why do you think there should have been 2 kills?

Well, i'm certainly convinced by that outpouring of grief...

[vote:MrChris]

Mr Russell seems to be doing a good job at the moment, and i suspect he is either on the level or it is a clever ruse.
We need to be looking at the Mr Russell voters to find the wraiths at this point, as it is the best info we have to go on from yesterday's voting, and based on the assumption that Mr Russell is actually good, and also combine that with the people who were trying to steer the MaliA vote in a different direction.
That gives us:

Morte, MaliA, Goddess Jasmine, Cras, MrChris.

Morte wasn't mentioned in Mr Russell's analysis, I'd like for Russ to give a reason for that.
MaliA = known villian (and retired space pirate)
GJ, also not mentioned in the analysis. It's a bit strange to analyse the votes for MaliA, but leave out the votes for his opposition Mr Russell in that analysis...
Cras, stuck with Mr Russell when the voting was 2/3rds done
MrChris, votes for MR Russell directly after Cras sticks with him.

i'd also like to throw in a FOS for Malc, for throwing in a Mr Russell vote when it looked like the MaliA vote was gaining traction, and then switching at the very end, to try and look all innocent like.

MrChris
Cras
Malc

We should vote for that axis of evil, in that order.

Trooper has his order wrong, but that's probably because he used too much SCIENCE.

There's a delicate balance to be had with the MAGIC, after all.

My only defence on the suspicion part of my final hour vote is that I said sorry to Malia when I voted for him, as I believed he was probably a goodie. If I was a wraith, and knew Malia was also a wrait, I would not have said sorry as it makes it look like I am on the same side as him...

I want Squirt to answer my question.

Trooper: I only analysed votes on maliA after his JOKE JOKE, none of the other votes on me (I know I'm good right, therefore everyone voting for me is either misguided or bad, it didn't help. When you have a known baddie you can analyse the votes on them, or reluctance thereof.

I disagree, I pointed out it would be unlikely to be a blocker, because the blocker was killed, and added there was a chance they were Down to 2 left, so it was technically possible. But squirt was saying there should have been 2 killers, but 1 must be blocked, which is either an oversight on his part, or he actually knows there are 2, which makes it sound dodgy. Not enough for me to vote for him yet. I am sure this makes me sound more dodgy, and may start a campaign against me, but I'm just making up the numbers, so am a better target than a goodie power role. Of course I'd rather not die, so if you are a goodie, then vote for someone else...

I voted for Mr Russ because the gobby people are most often the guilty.

The people who didn't vote, or voted Mr Russ (other than me) are the ones who may be fellow ringwraiths. I'd suggest Cras as a potential, as he leapt in to try to sway the vote away from MaliA. I also agree with Troop's analysis of Malc's shady actions.

I said it yesterday, but there's no correlation at all between the amount people post and their role in the game.

No, but if people don't post then you can't get them caught up in lies. it's infuriating.

Would you say you were a simple Gondorian or a regular Gondorian?

You can say it as much as you like, but my self-selecting confirmation bias says different. I got knocked on the head by some falling masonry.

Very simple.

True, but if people do post you catch them up in "lies" that aren't lies or don't mean anything.

Plus, of course, some people can't post as much as others.

Weird. I gave you a solid target list with Malc in it, Grim... also picked Malc from the list, you were FOS Malc and squirt for similar reasons, and you land on the opposite to me and Grim...

I know nothing about squirt either way, but in that situation i'm surprised you didn't vote Malc?

I liked the answers Malc gave today. In my mind they took him out of my suspicion, as explained earlier.

Squirt has not satisfactorily answered my question about what type of Gondorian he was, so I am voting for him for that reason, along with the fact that he said about there being two kill roles for the ringwraiths.

Because, presumably, he said "I think Mr Russell is good, based entirely on chance"?
