Quick answer: Yes. Not a large problem, but some programs can have issues with it.

What Grim... said. It's less hassle to fiddle the jumpers and swap the drives than it is to bang on the software, unless you have some reason to keep them that way.

Swap the jumpers and the slave becomes the master, though.

Has that got special flash drives or something, then?

Yeah.
One, or more likely two solid state drives. One at 4Gb, one at 16Gb. In the BIOS, they are set as 4/16 master/slave. I've got Windows installed and booting onto the 16Gb drive, just that it seems to be a little slow on occasion and I'm wondering if the IDE setup is anything to do with it.
After installing the drivers, it seems happier though.

Meh, if it's working, it's working. Are the solid drives particularly fast?

Fast enough, I think you'd say. I haven't put it into super performance mode or whatever.
I wouldn't use it every day, but anyone who buys one of these for every day use needs their brain drilling anyway.

As a thread hijack, where did you get your 901 from and how much was it, Plissken? Been looking at one myself (would have been fucking perfect for taking on holiday with me but unless I can get one from a high street store it's a bit late now really)
