Does anyone know of a reliable way to do this? I'm no expert (clearly) but I think I just need the DNS numbers.

I signed up for unblock.us but there's a charge which I don't mind paying, but if I can find a free way then that would be brilliant.

I use HMA, which is $6.55 a month when paid up front for a year ($78.66). It is very, very good.

Hola is the free one my sister uses. I have no idea if it's any good or not.

Have you tried any of the paid services? I believe you have to pay for them, but at least you have to pay for them and not not pay for them.

Do you have to pay?

We use Hola and it's excellent but we only use it as a browser plugin for Firefox, if you're using a PS3 or whatever I don't know how it works. It might help matters if TheVision mentioned how he's intending to access the content.

If you're using a PS3 you have to flash your router's firmware. It's not trivial unfortunately. I use HMA for OS X, Windows and iOS and it's excellent. The servers are quick and you can spoof pretty much any country you would possibly need.

I'm wanting to use the WWE Network which is only available in the US at the moment.

It's browser based so it sounds like the Firefox plugin could be the way forward but I would like to use it on my iPad so I may have to go down the route of flashing my router.

HMA have an app on the iPad you can use to set up a VPN profile. No flashing required (lol).

My Nexus Player refused to access US Netflix last night, giving the message "you appear to be using an unblocker". Changing the unblock.us DNS number fixed it, but it shows that they are pushing to close the loopholes

I still do not get the rational behind it

"You know that stuff your paying us for - we don't want you to have it so we're going to block you , yes we realize you could get it for free anyway but meh"

Well Netflix won't have the rights to distibute that stuff outside the US, so they sort of have to block it really.

You're not paying them for it. People in the country you're pretending to be in are paying them for it, but you're not. More than that though they only have content to sell because the owners agreed to give it to them; an agreement which will have come with geographical restrictions. If the content owners know it's actually a free for all and Netflix aren't doing shit about it then they'll likely stop licensing it to Netflix and their business is fucked. For better or worse the content owners want to be able to make different deals with different people all over the world and if one provider is making their stuff available worldwide that screws them. Why should, for example, Sky pay for the right to show a particular show in the UK if anyone who's got Netflix already has access to it because it's trivial to pretend to be in the US? Frankly I'm amazed it's taken them this long to start cracking down.

Well, it's proper goosed now. Unblock.us has shut down its support system after being inundated with requests.

"Clamping down on VPNs will turn Netflix subscribers into pirates"

Errr... if they are using a VPN to get round a country block, they already are...

Not really, I don't think. They're in breach of terms and conditions, but they're not violating copyright or pirating anything.

How are they not violating copyright? They don't have permission of the owner.

Well, my piracy will continue for now, as updated DNS has opened the window once again.
