Following a conversation Russell and I have had, if buttering a Digestive biscuit, which side do you butter?

Text side up (on the left) or bottom side up (on the right)?

Bottom side up, quite obviously.

Obviously you would never do it, but it's a good hypothetical question (if a bit easy to answer definitively).

I agree with the good Doctor. Why on earth would you add butter to a digestive biscuit?

The obvious answer is that I wouldn't butter one, but *if* I'd taken leave of my senses and decided to do it then I'd do the underside as it has a slightly larger and well defined area.
That makes it easier to get a nice even covering right up the edge.

I'm sorry, I've never tried this, so I can't help you, I'm afraid.

I tried Weetabix with rice pudding but no milk, once. It was pretty good.

I'm now seriously considering trying this, seeing as I'm away from home again this week and therefore will not attract the wrath of 'er indoors, although she might be a secret Digestive Butterer herself. She could be indulging right now, and I wouldn't know about it.

Obviously only a wrong 'un eats buttered digestives, but if I had to do it, I'd butter the bottom, like all right thinking people.

For you wrongoloids stating that digestives shouldn't be buttered, why are hovis digestives included in many a cracker selection box? And of course, it is text side up, unless you are putting two together, then one of them is text side down.

The amount of people who think you put things out the bottom of something is odd. Do you serve them butter side down?

Why would you put them down?

If your going to butter it, you butter the rough side. Then you add another biscuit, with the rough bits meeting. And you hold the smooth bits.

But I wouldn't butter them. However hovis crackers have a similar design, and I love spreading dairylea on them.

You know they're digestives too, right?

Fool! Everyone know buttered things land butter side down, if dropped. Thus, we tinker with the laws of the universe by putting the butter where Mother Nature least expects it.

Not the ones where the crackers are in the shape of a loaf of bread. Round ones, that are not digestives.

Also, I put it to you, what side do mcvities put the chocolate on chocolate digestives? That strikes me as the side to be adding stuff to.

The top one there is a packet of crackers, the bottom one is a packet of digestives.

That is acceptable, but I cannot fathom why anyone would eat digestives with butter
