See that Asda are not playing this year after some of the more shameful events happened in their stores last year

http://www.theguardian.com/business/201 ... iday-deals

Also read that its sort of back firing for shops, October sales are down as people are waiting for deals and its also messing up Christmas sales figures and shops don't get as longer chance to sell stuff at full price as well as traditional shopping all taking place on Black Friday.

The Police have issues a warning\statement for the event already as well

As always will be giving the shops a wide berth on the day!

I always saw it as Darwin's Law in action, anyone prepared to risk getting trampled to death for a slightly cheap TV is probably best removed from the breeding pool anyway.

I agree with Hearthly. Some of the scenes that I've seen in the past two years are simply awful.

I don't know why people visit shops these days anyway, let alone on black Friday.

I don't mind shopping in general - the browsing experience is completely different in person compared to online.
Certain things where I know exactly what I want and there's no service differentiator I'll always buy over the net but I do like a mooch round some shops.

I avoid busier times and any artificial nonsense like black friday though.
Hopefully other retailers will follow Asda's example as it does nobody any favours.

But they weren't significantly better value for money than you could have got elsewhere without the fighting.

I dunno. £250 for a 42 inch lg plasma seemed ok to me at the time*. I was working in Asda at the time and it was pretty interesting seeing how the whole thing unfolded.

*actually MrsA, as she walked in, got the security guard to pick one up and put it in the trolley and after she paid, another to take it to the car.
