There are many games better than L4D2, starting with L4D1.

Yes.

To be honest L4D2 would be in my top ten of ever, if I'm being honest.

Not only because it was the first online co op game I ever played but also because of the hours I've pumped into it. The modded maps just gave you an endless supply of greatness.

I would probably say top three? oo, that's a touch one. Fallout 3 would be number one, closely followed by either Half Life 2 or Mario 64 (because it was the game that made 3D platforming work).

I'd play the multiplayer for sure. The campaign is clearly the best of the entire CoD with great levels, pacing and drama. It even had a "follow the NPC" that wasn't a load of tedious bollocks (did it start this trend? Just about).

The only new special undead is the spitter, isn't it? I've not played for a long time :(

I've been playing L4D1 a bit recently and it's amazing.

Both are amazing. I prefer 2, but I wouldn't shun 1 in any way.

I've got no Gold any more, but I'd happily pay £6 if we played L4D (either of them) a few times this month.

Hmm - I may have traded L4D1 in. I'll have to look on my self. I know I kept L4D2, maybe I kept both.

Let's just play on Steam instead. It's been £2 in sales before - no excuse not to own it. Plus it'll run on an Amstrad calculator.

I never bought them on Steam, because I didn't think anyone here would be interested in playing together on PC. I'll buy either of them if this would actually happen, though.

Variable, inflexible, but usually usable.

There's a reason I spend a bit more for a teamspeak server, however.

And it goes quiet again - okay lets see what can be done with this because i'm sure enough people would play if we can just agree when and on what platform.

If you are interested in playing Left 4 Dead reply back to this thread with :

Versions you have -(Xbox / Steam Windows / Steam OSX - question does anyone know if you can cross play with Windows and OSX ? - confirmed yes
What version you would prefer to play (may have an impact if you don't have Xbox Live)
When you would be available to play it

I'll collate the answers here and lets see what we can sort out :

Zaphod79
Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 on Steam Windows / Steam OSX / Xbox 360 - I still have Xbox Live so can play on any
I'm around most weeknights from about 21:30 till about midnight

Future Warrior
Both games on Steam (Windows/OSX)
I don't have either game on 360 or Live any longer
I am available most evenings

Grim...All versions
I'd probably prefer 360
I can do Friday night ?:

Mr Dave
If it is on PC, I could make a teamspeak server available if needed.
Might also be able to play, maybe.

TheVision
I have it on my Xbox 360 but don't mind buying it on Steam if it's cheap enough.
I'm available most evenings from 8ish (apart from Monday)

RuySan
I have both on Steam.
I can play both, even though i prefer L4D1. I don't have any voice chat though.

Cookie
I have both on Steam, and am free pretty much every evening.

lasermink
I am interested in playing on Steam. Pretty much whenever.

Mr Chris
360

Cross-play between Win/Mac/Linux works fine (in theory).

It has been cheap in the past (I'm sure I got a bundle with both for maybe around a fiver) but its £15 for it on the steam store right now

http://steamcommunity.com/app/550

For cheap options you could use Kinguin - for between about £4 and £7

http://www.kinguin.net/category/290/lef ... team-gift/

I've not bought anything from Kinguin but they are linked to from Savygamer so Lewie trusts them to get you a key at least :-)

So I've played COD on Steam and it allows you to 'type' messages which I find are better than the voice chat at times (you hit 'T' to talk and then type a line of text e.g. "There is a sniper on the roof above A")

Does anyone know if L4D does this ?

Considering it started life as a Counter Strike mod, it almost certainly does.

L4D2 definitely has in-game chat, as that's how Pete and I communicated when we played.
