God damn you all. I lost two hours to fiddling with this last night. If my wife ever sees this game I'll never get near the computer again.

I'm bored of the creator now. I just want the game already, so I can no doubt get bored of that within a week as well. Man, games just don't keep my attention.

Maybe the game will handily be bolstered by Wall-E when it comes out, giving us the urge to explore and laugh at slapstick. Or something.

Man, I'm even more excited about Wall-E than Spore, somehow. I haven't played on the Creature Creator for a few days now, but I have been very busy so that's okay. Aim to get some more creative fun-time tonight.

A quick question - but how do I go about sharing these creatures with everyone here? In a way that they can use/edit them, if possible, rather than just making a youtube vid.

Also, here is Errol:

There should be a folder in My Documents called 'My Spore Creations'. There are .png files in the Creatures folder in there.

Although I must stop looking at Wall-e toys on Amazon

Also, if you chose to "share" them then we can get them via the craptastic spore.com (edit: and if you do, remember to tag them with "BETEO" folks!)

eg : #qry=usr-Poddster">http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-Poddster
Just go on there, and drag and drop any one of those creature files into your open spore window. TADA! Modern day magic. A png file _is_ the creature file.

Hey Pod, they are great!

I shall tag my creatures BETEO, and I shall share them to the sporepedia, too.

Here are Errol and Spigly

Errol bears a most excellent resemblance to the lead singer in Jabba's house band.

Hey Mimi, do you know how to post comments on other people's creatures? I've received two so far, but have no idea how to reply because the website is so rudimentary.

I got one for my puppeteer that said they have only one eye on each head. I checked, and they're right! D'oh! Nice comment for my Triffid though, praising its accuracy. :D

No, I did try to comment on a picture today, but I can't actually type in the comments box - I assumed it was my browser. ?:|

Here are two new ones.

One is a character you may recognise.

Excellent Kermit there, Mimi. Though isn't it scary how you can start tinkering and look up, and find an hour has passed, eh?

These are great, Mimi! Kermit is excellent. I have no idea what the first one is but if it _is_ Stu, well, it's brilliant. Especially the grumpy grin.

Nah, it's just a guy, the fact that he has something approaching a bad flat-top is *purely coincidental*. The character you may recognise was Kermit ;)

I made myself a big fat six-legged beastie with insect wings and a crocodile gob last night. He's called the Bumblepotamus. I can feel the full version of the creature creator calling me like a big teasy calling thing.

Lots of good Spore news today. For myself, I loaded it up again after a break and was overjoyed to find some comments left about my triffid.

Khazar for example says...

Quote:
"This one is the closest I had in mind to the triffid when I read the novel. Thumbs up! Argentine says hi! :D"

Whilst Hunter272 comments...

Quote:
"Nice one look just like the one on the cover of the book."

Thank you and keep those comments coming in, you know we love to hear from you. /BBC presenter.

Anyway - now for the big news!

http://www.eurogamer.net/tv_video.php?playlist_id=12766

Yup, a twenty minute presentation by Will Wright on the civilization and space part of the game. It's mesmerising, funny and looks completely and utterly fantastic! This looks like a game that you'll lose months to. Brrrr. I'm certain it will alleviate any qualms about the game on this board, if there are still any. Think I'll watch it again and make another creature.

Highlights of the video: (Not really spoilers, but you may want the cool bits to be a total surprise)

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Planetbuster!
Black hole!
Holographic evangelist!
Happy generator!
Making your own flying saucers and vehicles and buildings and sharing and commenting on them in something exactly as awesome as creature creator!
Wright's embarrassing hair!

It's all so awesome!

Just playing through The Simpsons Game on the XBOX and I had to smile at Homer taunting Will Wright with "I bet you $10 Spore doesn't come out".

So, is Will Wright a cameo character in the Simpsons game, Dimrill? I don't quite understand.

Hope this works through Flickr, but here's a new creature creation of mine:

The Brechmose!

Edit: Hmm, there seems to be something wrong with the creature uploader.

Been making some more creatures. It's funny how you get bored of the idea of Creature Creator, but the moment you fire it up you're hooked again.

The Brechmose, tagged under beteo. It's a sort of moose, and is extremely affable.

Image

Dinky PNG: Image

And the Tamla Rambla, also tagged under beteo. A vegetarian that munches fruits and vegetables from the ground, but also impales would-be predators with its unicorn's horn.

Image

Dinky PNG: Image

C'mon Spore. Release already!

The video ends quite abruptly, mid-sentence though. Is there no second part or anything?

Didn't seem to be. Maybe they'll upload more later.

Oh, and WANT:

Quote:
EA: Today we announced the limited Galactic Edition of the highly-anticipated game from the creators of The Sims. This special box will contain the 'Making of Spore' DVD, ‘The Art of Spore’ hardback mini-book, a fold-out Spore poster, and a premium 100-page Galactic Handbook. The Galactic Edition will also feature a DVD documentary from the National Geographic Channel called “How to Build a Better Being”.

:DD

Oh man, I'm becoming obsessed all of a sudden. I really want this game, and I really want it to be great. Full on space travel as well and genuine exploration!

Yes, it is eight.

Though when I am looking forward to an event I miss off days.

So, it's eight days to Christmas*, but then take off today, and tomorrow (because it is nearly tomorrow, and then the actual day itself, of, and the day before, because I'll already be celebrating Christmas by then, and ta-da, it's only FOUR days to Christmas!

So maybe Nervy P is just excitedly counting.

Also, Viva Pinata is out on the same day, da daaaa!

* It is NOT REALLY eight days until Christmas, so don't panic.

Game Most Likely To Controversially Get 8/10 On Eurogamer: Spore

We don't give high profile games an eight to wind people up on purpose. Honest. And yet we can't seem to stop ourselves - Halo, Gears of War, Metal Gear Solid 4... What next? Despite stiff competition, our judges reckon Will Wright's super-ambitious Spore is the most likely candidate. Eurogamer editor Tom Bramwell, who is reviewing the game, didn't vote in this category, being too busy conquering the world with cutesy Dodos.

I've started playing MGS4. I freaked out my mate by asking why the big robots souded like they were giving birth to calves. He said they were probably meant to sound like a bull, at which point I told him that the moo samples used were definitely from a calving cow and not a bull. He looked at me oddly.

The NervyPWatch blog estimates a 47% chance of localised hysteria for Nervous Pete, with a top-giggling rate of five giggles a minute. Local housemates are advised to skip his room.

Hmm, choices.

Shall I buy this as a direct download from EA with no physical product, or spend far less money buying the box from any games store and having something to keep? How can they justify charging £40 for an online download?
