's fairly good, I thought. Jedi Knight meets Crackdown. Only not quite as good. But still very decent.

I started downloading it before I left for work this morning. When I return from work at about mid day tomorrow, I'm going to give it a go. I'm quite hopeful.

It's quite fun but I don't like the spacky way he holds his lightsabre.

I enjoyed it immensely. It's going to be lovely to have a good modern Star Wars game.

I thought it was a bit meh, yeah all the actions were pretty cool but using the force to throw objects often just ended up with him throwing them into the side of a wall instead of straight ahead.
Also I couldnt even see where enemies were half the time and why was I fighting storm troopers?
Also the level design seemed pretty poor as well, but in the end using the force to throw baddies around like insignificant shits was pretty fun.

It tells you in the opening cut scene.

The Apprentice needs to be kept secret from The Emperor, so can't leave any witnesses.

It's Ninja Gaiden, for mortals, with a lightsaber.

It seems like pretty good fun. It's not amazing by any stretch, but I'll be picking it up for a good blast through and hopefully it'll have an online mode. Jedi Knight 2 on PC was fantastic fun online.

It's sad to say that if it wasn't Star Wars, no one would be going near it.

rubbish compared to JKII

Why does it have to be so arcadey, with combos and "slam bonuses"
and why the fuck does it take more than one hit with a lightsaber to kill anyone?

SO, SO DISAPPOINTED

This was going to be great. Sadly its poor.

I did find the lightsaber to be utter shite. You should be slicing StormTroopers five at a time with one swipe. Instead, they've concentrated on the force powers and neglected the saber a little. Still, I enjoyed it enough. Perhaps because I was expecting it to be a bit average after watching some videos a few months ago.

fuck me i just thought if i had the force and a light sabre, Id chuck the fucker like a spear or a frisbee then use the force to bring the handle back to me hand. That would be killer and prolific, anyway another problem blocking doesnt reflect the shoot beam thingys which is a fail aswell. Its average, admit you fucks, your just fooled by the star wars image of it. If you want to use the force, use the fucking gravity gun.

Which annoyingly were both possible in JKII a fair few years ago.

Indeed it falls in the same boat as Gears and Halo 3 for me.

Buy, and thoroughly enjoy, in about 12 months when I can pick it up for about £12.

I hadn't thought of it like that, but actually, that's a good description and yes -- I agree it sounds ace. The demo impressed me anyway.

Oh, and the closing video clip of the demo clearly shows the player levitating an opponent and then using a thrown lightsabre to attack him, so that's definitely in the game, but not the demo/

I'd say that if you love Star Wars it's probably a really good game, if you don't care it's probably a good, decent game and if you hate Star Wars it's probably shite.

You can hold someone in the air and impale them with your thrown saber in the demo. That's always fun.

I hate fighty games like this. I am disappointed.

Can they not just make JKIII?

OR - a decent Star Wars RPG in the style of Fallout 2 would be totally aces.

Gaywood showed the game off to me in CEX earlier today... it looks decent enough, the Force powers looked suitably 'forceful'. I shall have to try the demo.

However, what made it great was that this hateful little oik walked up and decided it was his turn and asked Gaywood for the controller. Five seconds into his grasping little claws taking the controller, the large and sweating member of staff said 'sorry, you need to stop playing, we need to use the 360 for something' and booted him off. :D

I would, were it not for the fact that quite often you can get a new copy of the game for the same or less than they're charging for a preowned copy that has potentially been up someone's arse or has had their herman gelmet jammed through the hole in the middle.

It does make trading in games worthwhile at CEX though. I got £16 for Nintendogs when it was selling for £14 on amazon.

That I am. A cheap hoo-er.

I don't buy recent games there though, as you can generally get them cheaper new on Amazon marketplace.

Two returns to GAME for blatantly damaged discs (and I have some I haven't checked yet) and I'm done with pre-owned. Especially as one of the games I got cheaper, brand new from Argos with my refund.

I've bought loads of second hand games and never had a problem. I think most people don't do that sort of thing, you really need to stop judging everyone else by your own standards.

I got full refunds off them, it was just inconvenient. I did try to buy a couple of games in CEX, but it was noisy, smelly, the queue was massive, the game boxes were tatty, and I got them cheaper elsewhere after I put them back and walked out.

I keep forgetting to do that. A while back I bought some PS2 games in Gamestation's 4 for £10 range and was impressed that all the discs were immaculate. Since then, I've such a mixed condition of discs which is odd considering they should be checking them as they receive them in for trade and that they've got their own disc-cleaning machine.

I'll stick to Ebay I think - I bought three 360 games before I left for work this morning ;)

Most stuff I bought from CEX was either import or retro, I very rarely bought 'new' stuff from them.

I am pretty sure the boxes get dirty from being in the shop, as opposed to from the previous owners.
