Following a leak of some info the website of Game Informer magazine has previewed the cover of it's next issue which officially announces the next Deus Ex game 'Mankind Divided'.

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/arch ... 68435.aspx

There's a load of more screenshots here as well:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1024951

Well, I say 'screenshots'; obviously 'render of something that the final game might look something like' is probably more realistic.

Human Revolution was (is!) a fantastic game, so I'd be more than happy to see a relatively 'straight' sequel to it. Played Human Revolution through on PC and loved it to pieces. Well, apart from the boss fights.

Good to see they've dropped the 360 and PS3 too, so it'll be targeting the capabilities of the latest hardware.

Hopefully you'll be able to amusingly punch random people for no reason whatsoever, like you could in Human Revolution. (Make sure you save first though!)

The thing that annoyed me about HR is that you could actually systematically impale and murder every single NPC in most areas with absolutely no impact on the game at all. It's yet another example where 'your choices matter!' except that they don't. The only time this applied in HR was a brief comment after the first mission about how violent you were, but no tangible difference. At least in the original Deus Ex your bloodthirstiness would lead to you getting fewer credits or extra tools depending on how you played it out.

What I want is a truly branching path game, not the thin veneer of one. I recently played the director's cut edition with the commentary, and the amount they ended up cutting from the game was staggering. Whole city hubs that were 75% built but left on the cutting floor. Loads more side-missions planned, never realised. So much that would have made the game a lot better if they'd just given it a bit more time.

I'd say Dishonored did the 'evolving world' thing better than HR, yes it was still limited in its scope but you'd see real, tangible differences right throughout the game depending on how you were playing - leading to a possibility of three different endings (unlike HR you couldn't just choose between the three right at the end).

Asking for a 'truly branching path game' is almost asking for the impossible, the development costs and time required to make that happen are damn near off the scale. As you note in your post they had to bin off a massive amount of stuff in HR, and that's not even close to being a truly branching path game.

Have you played Dishonored by the way? It's an absolutely magnificent game, it really is. If you liked HR then I'd say you'd like Dishonored. Some bummage here - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8973&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=dishonored&start=150

Back to the new Deus Ex game, I realise it's not going to be a truly branching path game but I don't mind that, I'm happy to play within the limitations of the game's universe.

It's certainly watchable but in game terms it could almost be a fucking Call Of Duty trailer.

Which I guess isn't what the game will actually be but I guess they had to make it look exciting, and there probably isn't much actual game to show yet.

Certainly when I played through HR I wasn't shooting, stabbing, and blowing everything up like that - 'cause that's totally not what Deus Ex is about.

Unless you want it to be. You always play it through at least twice. The nice guy run, and the murderous bastard run.

TBH I didn't make it through my second playthrough of HR, I started it, but didn't feel inclined to see it through (didn't even get past the first level second time around IIRC).

Dishonored however, I 100% did the campaign and both DLCs twice, to get the high chaos and low chaos playthroughs, plus I made sure I saw all three endings to the main campaign. (Or in your parlance, the nice guy run and the murderous bastard run, and the game really does play out differently depending on which approach you go for.)

The directors cut of HR has a 'plus' version, which starts the game with all of the augs you had at the end of your last run. So you can basically have an insane start for the lols.

Apparently you can now fucking pre-order this from it's official website. It's only been actually announced for about five minutes and it doesn't even have a projected released date and you can fucking pre-order it? Anyone who actually does this should be beaten to death with their own keyboard for the good of humanity.

£39.99 on PC and £54.99 on PS4/XBoner, seems like a pretty harsh price differential.

I think I will get this in a Steam sale for under a tenner when it's six months old.

£40 for a PC game is crazy and I will happily stake my reputation on a bet that it will be available for less than that at/before launch. Probably under £30, or close to it.

I've never paid over £42 for a PS4 game and I've bought plenty when they've just come out with their fifty odd quid RRPs.

RRPs are bullshit, why do they even bother?

Pre-ordering and doing it on a bullshit 'deluxe' edition; it's like you went out of your way to do the most ridiculous thing possible.

I live in hope that someone will pre-order an early access deluxe edition exclusive DLC so I can have a cast-iron defence to murder in a criminal court.

You shouldn't have to murder people like that, the state should round them up and execute them just as a matter of course.

Have we seen this unnutterable fucking bullshit:

http://www.polygon.com/2015/8/31/923172 ... lease-date

The third tier is particularly well named there.

Let it be known, if any Beexer encourages this terrible shitehawk nonsense by pre-ordering this pap I will absolutely hunt you down and fuck you up. Obviously I'm growling particularly in Hearthly's direction here because he's got form in this kind if tittery.

It's a right farce. I wonder if they will sell a patch for this game like they did the previous one.

They can fuck off, basically. If I buy it I'll buy the fixed version with all the DLC included when it is cheap in a year or so down the line.

This sort of stuff isn't new - XCOM:EU did it back in 2012, for example. I don't think it's any worse than any other pre-order "offers", really.

I pre-ordered off Amazon for £28. I don't know if that counts but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the £39.99 steam price tag.

I'll not be pre-ordering but that's mostly because I have no room for other games in my life at the moment, (Hearthstone + Pinball Arcade + MAME + fruit machine emulators = Games Heaven), so I'll probably snag this six-twelve months or so down the line when it's (a) Cheaper and (b) Patched and working.

Same plan as Lewie :)

(I mean, I've got Witcher III sat there on my PC, installed and patched and ready to go, but then to play that, I'd have to not be playing Hearthstone, or Pinball Arcade, or MAME, or a fruit machine emulator, so it just never happens.)

No, it's because of what happened with Sim City. You asked us to remind you if it looked like you were thinking about pre-ordering stuff again.

Well yes, that too.

First time it's been done by a AAA game though, in my memory? That's why it's getting a lot of press.

There's also a poster campaign. For pre-orders for a game that isn't out for almost a year. I saw this in New York yesterday:

Edit - stupid rotation.

Mali cannot. He died in 1942 fighting in Stalingrad. This is his consciousness uploaded to the neuralnetworms he designed in 2027. It gets terribly confusing.

Is there a hype train? Anticipation for this seems to be a fairly solid "meh, see what happens". Mostly because the last one was kinda

It's reviewing well but not magnificently so, and reading between the lines there are clearly issues too. (This review seems balanced and reasonable in its criticisms - http://www.hardcoregamer.com/2016/08/19 ... ed/221651/)

I'll wait and see what fellow BEEX-ers make of it first, if it's a ZOMG-DOOM situation - (DOOM being a game I had no interest in but the sheer force of Beexgasms tipped me over into purchasing it and I ended up playing it through three times over 75 hours) - then sure I'll dive in, but otherwise this might be a Steam Sale in six months kind of deal.
