1 death overnight!

There is a large bloody mess in the town square, Zaphod79 is found surrounded by his own entrails. He has been ripped in two as though someone has grabbed the hair on both heads and torn him apart. Messy.
Zaphod79 was Robert, and he was Mafia!

Roles in play:
Character name: King Decisive of Chooselands
Description: Grovel before the regal King Decisive, he who knows his shit! Regale yourself with his tales of justice! Interest yourself with further tales of his majesty! Mutter an excuse under your breath and wander off, because he's not going to stop talking.
Night power (if any): King Decisive can use his special truth-o-vision to get one fact that someone posted in the previous day confirmed or denied by the GM. If the person posting doesn't actually know the answer (because they were lying, or something) then KD gets jack.

Zaphod79
Allegiance: Mafia
Character name: Robert
Description: Just looks like any normal person
Night power (if any): Random defense
If targeted take a list of all the night actions available in the current game and have a random action occur against the person who targeted them

This will all be displayed in the rules thread for everyone to see.
In addition to that, you can also send me:

Passive ability (if any): If targeted overnight knows the name of the character (or player - i could see both being interesting but it should be one or the other) who that person targeted for the *previous* night

Additional characteristics (if any): I was going to name the character Random Dent (Arthur Dents daughter) but thought that might be a bit of a giveaway so lets just leave this blank at the moment.

DavPaz
Allegiance: Town
Character name: Hollis Hampson
Description: Hollis worries a lot and is always late. Think of Hollis as the White Rabbit in Wonderland. Despite the neuroses, Hollis is a bright enough sort and will always try and make the right decision.
Passive ability (if any): Hollis is always late because he doesn't live in Town, he commutes. This make him immune to non-lethal night actions.
Additional characteristics (if any): Hollis can't vote until almost at the last minute, due to his worrisome nature. He will not vote until a player is within 2 votes of being lynched.

Character name: The Doctor
Description: renegade Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey
Night power (if any): can choose to protect someone overnight.

Character name: Psychic Steve
Description: Born with an incredible gift, Psychic Steve can read minds simply by thinking about that person. He's often considered applying for the One Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge, but thinks it would be a churlish use of his power so ekes out a meagre living in this tiny village, providing travelling clairvoyancy services.
Night power (if any): Can read a person's mind and find out their allegiance - not just Good/Bad, but specifics. He can only read a person's mind once, though

Character name: Bin
Characteristics: You're a bin.
Night Power: If anyone discovers who you are then they can substitute their overnight power to pop inside amongst the garbage and hide out.

Character name: Mr Dave
Abilities: His analytical mind means that he can perceive patterns and movements in the nuances and movements of people; he can investigate any one person who has made more than 8 posts in a single day - this can occur at any time.

Character name: Bored political election fraudster
You are a bored political election fraudster without a current campaign to work on. In order to while away the time at work, you have created a way to trick the voting system for upcoming elections and are able to double vote on any and all lynches. You may cast a single vote, but it has the weight of two votes. If this is done, the moderator will only explicitly list the vote once, but it will count twice.

Cras
Allegiance: Neutral
Character name: Princess Sparklebum
Description: The youngest daughter of the King of the pixie folk, Princess Sparklebum is a flying joy-machine bringing laughter, happiness, and rainbows to everyone she meets.
Night power (if any): Princess Sparklebum can shower a player with kittens and unicorns and thoughts of wonderous giggledust, leaving them unable to do anything in the night phase.
Passive ability (if any):
Additional characteristics (if any): Princess Sparklebum is the youngest daughter. She'll never be in charge, and that properly pisses her off. As a result, while she probably could bring joy and wonder to everyone she meets, instead she doesn't. Her night ability could block someone's night action with thoughts of kittens and unicorns, but what's the fun in that? Instead she can manipulate her target's night action into doing the exact opposite of what it should. A doctor might kill their patient, or an investigation might return the wrong result or even out the investigated party to the world (I'll leave the specifics up to the boss man )
Win condition should be Town in the public thread, but secretly neutral. Princess Sparklebum wins if she survives to the end of the game. Investigations will reveal her true alignment.

Basically NIGHTCUNT mark II

Character name: Tom Cruise
Description: Stuck in a closet with R Kelly. Not in a cult, Absolutely, completely, one hundred percent NOT in a cult. Don't even mention cults around him.
Night action (Public): During the night, he can go to a persons house if they're in and have a chat about things completely unrelated to cults.

Curiosity
Allegiance: Town
Role - Cedrick smythsonian
Abilities - none
History - former army chaplain. Struggles with concept of not being violent.
Passive ability - if targeted at night, he will punch out whoever is near him. Any non-lethal action aimed at him fails and he knows who has targeted him but not what their action was. The person doing the targeting knows that they got knocked out and failed in their mission.

Character name: Alf
Role: Detective

More details will be revealed as people get killed (assuming there is a kill ability in the game…)

[playerlist]
Bobbyaro
Future Warrior
GazChap
Goddess Jasmine
Grim...
Mr Dave
Saturnalian
TheFireFaerie
[/playerlist]

Day 3 ends Tuesday at 9pm.
http://www.beexcellenttoeachother.com/counter/
With 8 people alive, 5 votes are needed for a lynch.
Can a mod do the dead thread thing please.

Great stuff.

[vote: Grim...]

No need to change this from yesterday - I can't see why Bobby would be lying at this point.

Fuck sake. I investigated Zaphod last night too, and was all set to come in and go "Hey guys, I found a Mafia!"

3 mafia, 1 neutral.

So no recruitment last night either.

While I totoally agree with lynching grim..., if we do it now, I lose my investigate ability as no one has posted 8 times.

Well presumably at this point the Mafia types will be trying to avoid posting 8 times. Who have you investigated so far, Bobby?

Perhaps his analytical mind means he can spot when people are coming for him during the day and he can evade them.

Also, you're not allowed to create a character who cannot be lynched or killed overnight.

Actually, GazChap isn't too far from the truth, I don't want to explicitly state as it will impact my safety, but let's just say Mr Dave has a few tricks up his sleeve.

And @ if people don't post, you can investigate them:
So far, FW and Grim... I investigated FW during the 1st day, so he was townie fo' sho to start with. Grim... during yesterday, and as the mafia count hasn't changed, I assume he is still mafia - although frankly anything could happen in this game! (especially given that town that had Batman in it!)

another question is:

Why was I lynched last round? even if there was the fraudster voting for me, that would still only make it 4 votes for me and Grim... each, right?

Yeah, as I said yesterday, Grim... is clearly the fraudster. I assume that in the event of a nolynch, whoever he's voting for gets strung up regardless of majority.

If he is Mafia as you say, that will bring us down to 2 mafia. TFF voting for Bobby yesterday is hugely suspicious, especially as she joined Grim... and zaphod79 in doing so.

It may have looked suspicious, but I thought there was something suss about Bobby and not about Grim..., and then Bobby manages to escape a lynch even the, as FW correctly points out, the rules state you aren't allowed to have anything in your role that means you escape a lynch...

Well, you're not the King, so what ARE you?

Yes, roleclaim, I'm the King, I've kept it quiet for the reason that I was trying to get more info before I went ahead and stuck my neck out, and I think I've got enough to go on now!

Wanna explain why you took my role?

So the reason I voted for Bobby yesterday was because he was trying to lynch Grim..., but I'd fact checked him from day one when he said he was pro-town, which he is, so assumed Bobby was anti-town especially after the I investigated him thing.

HOWEVER. I then fact checked Bobby last night, and he did investigate Grim..., so either I'm getting dodgy info, or he is - could there be a mess up the results non-lethal action out there?

So I'm not voting for either of you now. If the Doctor would be kind enough to protect my backside tonight that would be ace, as I have no idea who the bin is, and I can't fact check if I go in the bin anyway, and I reckon I could be of most use if I do fact checking than hiding!

Unless Grim... was recruited into the Mafia on night one, which would explain why TFF's initial investigation of Grim... was pro-town.

Grim... was also very interested in the Mafia increasing by one at the start of day 2, asking me if I thought that was a mistake. Perhaps he knew it wasn't but was just trying to plant a seed of doubt around the place a bit.

Well I don't know about mafia, but in terms of 'kill roles' it's GJ or Sat, because Grim.. and Mr Dave were in the bin (although if Mr Dave would confirm that please, as I'll assume if Grim... was told who was in there with him, so would Mr Dave).

So that means they were the only 2 that could have killed Zap

1) TFF, post 8 times and can investigate you
2) As I mentioned, in a previous incarnation when I was Batman, Grim... switched roles on night 1. Could the same thing have occurred again?
3) FW, you unvoted for a reason, you buffoon! :)

I can always unvote again if it looks like there's a bandwagon forming. I don't think there will be though, because he's scummier than Sir Simon Scumton III of Scumthorpe, Lincs.

Frankly, given that Bobby has said he wants to investigate TFF, the fact that the Mafia haven't blockvoted pretty much tells me that Grim... and TFF are Mafia. If TFF was town, they'd not be bothered about trying to stop the investigation. If she's Mafia, it's in their interest to blockvote and stop the investigation.

I think that makes sense when you read it back. Does in my head, anyway.

No, I said that Bobby was telling the truth! so actually I'm fairly sure you are Gaz are town too

Ok, so if you, Gaz, Bobby and I'm good, then that leaves us with the rest to pick bad guys from. What do you reckon?

Goddess Jasmine
Grim...
Mr Dave
Saturnalian

Well I don't know about mafia, but in terms of 'kill roles' it's GJ or Sat, because Grim.. and Mr Dave were in the bin (although if Mr Dave would confirm that please, as I'll assume if Grim... was told who was in there with him, so would Mr Dave).

So that means they were the only 2 that could have killed Zap

Ok, this is very easily solvable. Post three more times and let Bobby investigate you.

Oh, for that. Gotcha.

An known goodie and a known baddie know who I am so they'll confirm I'm town.

Er, Bin roleclaim?!?!

Please feel free to confirm, anyone who has hidden in said bin.

Also, just because you're the bin doesn't make you town. probably means you can't kill though, so...

On to the Bobby thing... I'm happy for him to investigate me, BUT: I know he's turned up suss results before, AND we've had team switching according to Gaz, AND - no one else seems to care that he managed to avoid a lynching even though the rules say no one can.

?

Don't forget the passive abilities, which aren't revealed publicly.

Well, that rule applies to passives too:
edit to add: Oh, as last time, your passive ability can't be something that stops you directly being lynched or killed overnight.
So, I'm not sure how Bobby evaded that lynch. Could be someone else's passive ability protecting him?
