Think I'm slowly getting there. I think I might know who a couple of people are, but that doesn't help with allegiance just yet.

It would be a super-bold early lie, so I'm inclined to believe there's no cult.

Could cult not be neutral, as in not mafia or town?

Neutral generally means not associated with any group. Which wouldn't be the case for a cult. Which is decidedly groupie.

This is what I have issue with. Your statement is correct about a cult being a group, but if as it stands at the moment we have no cult, it's just a leader. One cult leader does not a cult (or group) make.

I wouldn't assume we don't have one, safer to assume we do and be proved wrong.

It makes a faction though, which is the role definition. After all neutrals (presumably) aren't a group either.

Equally I would expect an SK to be considered neutral. It could even be shorthand for 'other'.

Or Gaz knew he was away today and decided to try to bluff it out!

Question: What would be the benefit for Gaz were he bad? Also, in order for such a claim, the mafia would need a doctor to protect against other potential kill roles. I'm also a little doubtful they would've come to the consensus to put that out there so quickly. Also also: If I were a mafia type, I'd want people to think there was a cult out there even if there wasn't, and place that in.

The Gazchap as a bad guy seems a bit too much of a stretch to me. It'd be a needless and poorly executed risk. And I don't think Gaz is stupid, so... I'm trusting him until there's a good reason not to.

Irritatingly, much as I want to Fuck GazChap Up, I agree with Mr Dave.

Unless it's something to do with a hidden rule, there's no reason for GazChap to stick his neck out like he did if he's a bad guy.

He has an investigative role of sorts. He knows he can roleclaim that specific one and not get a claim against him. If the Mafia do not have a doctor then he can get the potential Townie doctor to protect him.

At the moment, if the Doctor is a townie then he's likely going to protect Gaz. That's a pretty damned good result for him if Gaz is Mafia.

I'm not saying that is what has necessarily happened, just that his claim would be a valid Mafia play.

Given that I'm pretty sure we're not going to be lynching anyone, shall we [vote:nolynch] (again)? This day's been rumbling on forever.

Yeah, it's possible, and if would certainly be nice to have him confirmed. But an early lynch before any investigating would be... actually pretty typical for the town.

No, voting for nolynch is saying that we're not going to secure a lynch today because there's only four hours to go and we have no information, ergo nolynch because BORED HURRY UP NOW.

Also with every town role a power role, we're more likely to lose a useful role than we are to hit a bad one. FFS there are FOUR investigators. Why rush a kill?

Why rush when there's one investigator?

Because it takes a lot longer to work out who the bad guys are, and all the time your guys are being killed. Not the case here. And normally there's a fair chance that a random lynch will hit a fairly useless vanilla townie. Not the case here.

The random lynch seems to nearly always nail a power townie :D

Also, ending the day four hours early is unlikely to make any difference to when the next one starts.

I totally agree with Curio, much better to try and hit someone. With 4 investigator roles we're actually in a good position. Even if one of them, hell even if two of them are mafia or something else, then worst case scenario we're still left with two pro-town investigators and can risk losing one to potentially hit a baddie instead.

It statistically will often hit a townie power role but I'd need to look at old games but remember one where day 1 the town picked the person who the cult recruited and day 2 they picked the cult leader (so the cult was gone very quickly) - yes this was a long time back and yes since 'everyone' has a power role we're more likely to hit a power role but i still think its worth doing

I'm just not sure on who :-)

That makes little sense. With four investigator roles the town is in a really strong position for actually finding out who the bad guys overnight are instead of hitting out randomly. If all the investigators are townies we can have everyone investigated in only 3 nights! Unless we start lynching the investigators...

Whether roles have been assigned randomly or not, I think it's highly unlikely that all 4 investigators would be pro-town. If an anti-town role is also an investigator role, do we think that makes their kill role (if they have one) null and void? i.e. would, say, an SK investigator role be allowed to investigate OR kill, or both? Hmm.

Nobody was allowed to give themselves a kill role, so Trooper assigned them. Via some criteria. That will only make sense to Trooper.

There's no guarantee that the investigators will turn up anything useful.

Then they have to come forwards and at least one will then die overnight.

We could lose two to overnight kills and one to the cult, with the other being Mafia.

We get a lynch going then someone is forced to roleclaim, and THEY CAN'T LIE! We get more info from how people reacted and how they voted.

Ending the day early just almost definitely wipes out a townie or two or three and gives us nothing.

Basically :this:

Gazchaps phrasing is slightly odd on sides which has been pointed out and is the only reason i'm going for him - if someone can come up with an alternative then speak up (Gaz?)

That is predicated on each investigator choosing a different person every night and someone not picking someone who has already been investigated.

Unless you suggest they all roleclaim and organise it between themselves.

If all the investigators are townies we can have everyone investigated in only 3 nights!

That is predicated on each investigator choosing a different person every night and someone not picking someone who has already been investigated.

Unless you suggest they all roleclaim and organise it between themselves.

Well yeah, OK - mild hyperbole. But we're still in a much stronger position for information than we've ever been before.

Gazchaps phrasing is slightly odd on sides which has been pointed out and is the only reason i'm going for him - if someone can come up with an alternative then speak up (Gaz?)

If there is a cult leader, then it's Gaz. Him putting himself out there right away is very bold, but it's a fantastic move for a cult leader. Buys himself a bit of time because he makes the town think he's useful, gets a likely overnight doctor protection, and tells everyone that there's no cult.
