The Ticket to Ride World Championship will be held on Sunday 25th January at a pub I suppose in London with easy access for me to fall on to the 7 pm train at King's Cross. All welcome, something something something qualifiers see you there when someone tells me where is good and stuff and MrsA leaves at 4pm.

Starting drinking early on the 25th? What could possibly go wrong?

Nothing, but given that we're staying up all night we must remember to pace ourselves.

Might be able to make it. Will let you know if I'm able to come down and humiliate you all with my track-laying prowess.

Well, we can either go near Greenwich, which is convenient (for me and the wife and child) for where you are staying overnight. It also has some good pubs that would be fine for board games, and food.

Or we go near Kings Cross as it is convenient for your ride home. I know nothing of the area though, so someone else will have to sort it.

Is someone actually bringing the game?

If it were to be Greenwich then there is possibility of RileyClan attendance, dependant on other factors.

Regret I won't be able to join you.

In other TtR news, I came very close to buying the dinosaur expansion yesterday but managed not to. Of course, everything's better with dinosaurs.

Following some changes of plan for this week, may now be good for this, (particularly if the Curiosity offspring is also going)

Go with the organisation and I should know our status later tomorrow. Location shouldn't be a determining factor in whether we can make it or not.

The only place I know in Kings X is This place. Certainly fitted the bill for lazy sunday afternoon and spacious with massive tables, also not too busy.

This was 8 years ago though.

Rather than Greenwich (full of tourists and not particularly spacious pubs that tend to be either shit, or rammed on Sundays) may wish to consider Blackheath if staying SE then going for the train. There you've got the Railway, the Crown, Zero degrees, O'Neills or Princess of Wales (although that may be closed at the moment as I recall) with food, all with ale and the same lazy sunday feel.

In Kings Cross...

One may scoff, but this is actually a very good station pub. Feels a mite Harry Pottery, and some big tables to be had towards the back of the place. And surely fitting for a game of TTR.

This place is also a decent size and pretty relaxed, with an Adams Family pinball table too.

parcelyard is a decent pub, as is the betjeman arms in the other corner.

If this occurs at King's X let me know and I may be able to pop out for a pint.

Cheers for the info, Findus. Will you be joining us?

Can I actually get an idea of who is likely to come, and whether the location matters?

My wife (and child) are probably not coming now as her Mum and Sister are coming over from Ireland.

Ah. Didn't realize that the curious women were out. This may affect our attendance as we're trying to max out the Boys weekends at the moment, not sit him in a pub with no young friends. Will contemplate but don't plan venue around us.

Most of the London types are being utterly rubbish at the moment.

Current contenders:
Me
You
MrsA
Maybe APoD
Maybe Grim...

Anyone else?

Currently potentially in the Greenwich area depending on people and times.

But, also potentially doing some early thing there and moving to Kings Cross.

And then Brixton, and Shepherd's Bush, and Liverpool Street.

I will update soonish. You're all in it around London anyway.

Though we still need someone to bring the actual game. Can you manage that, Mali?

Possibly. If the APoD family are coming then my family will also come, which would be much easier in SE London, at least for a bit. We could, however, just do that earlier in the day as a families thing before the serious board games and drinking.

EH? I buy it, and they send it to you. Then I don't have to bring it down on the train!

Oh, well, yes, that would work, but don't you already have it? Seems odd to buy it again to save carrying it!

Anyway, I am going to bed. Feel free to send it if you wish.

Kings X arguably works better for us as although further, it is a far more direct and hence quicker route, if the family curio is happy (Parcel Yard claims to be family friendly) and it would also make the day less fragmented for all.

I shall ask the wife. Greenwich has the added bonus of stuff for kids to do when they inevitably get bored of the pub. But I shall stop pretending I have any input in this whatsoever and ask Maria.

Kings X certainly works better for me, as I have to be there at 4pm for SPLINTER GROUP FUN.

The kids can go and look at the fountains.
