This. Some kind of zombinefication liquid would make sense, but an entire exoskeleton and circuity?

On the other hand, the thought of all the world's dead coming back is pretty scary.

Wasn't there one made out of wood last series?

I would presume, the 'nano' cyber cells in the rain, would be able to find and bond to other cells and grow into a cyber casing. Much like our cells know how to grow into a human. Just on a faster scale.

Yup.

But we go grow from cells splitting etc, over 9 months?

Yeah it was a lame steel zombies threat, badly executed. It was nonsensical and the ending was crap. And the brigade er saving the daughter was lane as well.

Totally lane man !

There were a number of things they did well - i really liked the 'fake' opening with Jenna getting top billing and her eyes being used in the starfield

I thought the ending was really good. Neither the Doctor nor Clara get what they want. Both are unhappy but think the other is happy so don't say what they're actually thinking. The Doctor's reaction to not finding Gallifrey was really sad :'(

The ending of the Cybermen part was a bit hokey though.

So the Mistress' only strength is that nobody seems willing to actually do anything (useful) to restrain or prevent her from swanning about the place killing people, and her only weaknesses are deus ex machina that make the whole thing fall down at once?

Was the Master always like that?

Her army of Cybermen and willingness to murder people helped too.

Poor glasses girl :'(

But it would have been better had the Doctor dressed in drag and done some 'end of the pier' panto shite, right?

Returning characters are the bane of Moffat's Who. The universe just keeps on getting smaller.

No, each enemy was hand-crafted for each episode, before being stored and never used again.

I know you all backed the kickstarter so are already aware but the Wifeinspace blog are doing the first season of 'new' Who - and started off yesterday with Rose (10 years after it was first broadcast)

Cheers. I got through most of the old series blogs, but ran out of steam as I didn't know a lot of the episodes, so it was tricky to work out what was going on at times.
I did enjoy it in the main, so hopefully now they are doing the series that I know well, it'll be even more enjoyable to follow along :)

I really enjoyed his spin-off book. Will enjoy their take on the new series.

Also - 10 years already?!

I'd forgotten how brilliant 'Wife in Space' is. Very tempted to rewatch the Ecclestone series now.

Hmm, sure I saw some 'War Machines' from an old Hartnell episode. I predict sci-fi social commentary on hunter-drone ethics, with evil-AI fun, or something.

I think he should be less superhero and more guiding hand to get the best out of those around him.

He tends to have become far too grandstandy. But then I guess in many ways he was in the classic series but now I think they do more spectacular set pieces. The guitar bit is worrying..

I actually really liked the trailer. He looks more confident, after spending most of the last series being mostly confused until Clara saved the day.
