The Gamespot review makes it sound excellent (much more excellent than the 8 out of 10 rating they give it actually, but who cares about the numbers) so I've added it to The List. So expect comments from me about it sometime in 2015.
Well, I was close! Fucking hell, I can't believe I posted about playing this two years ago and am only tonight getting round to it.
I haven't got to any gun bits yet but the hand to hand combat suffers by being a bit Batman, but not being
as Batman as Batman. I keep trying to roll/vault out of the way before realising you can't and getting punched in the face (unless you can and I've just managed to somehow not learn how?) and the counter move fails often enough to be a bit frustrating (for some reason if there's a knife guy behind you it rarely works but you can counter anyone else from that position). I'm sure I'll get into it though and it's undeniably ace to grab a guy and run him half way across the level to shove his face into a fan or something. I've got a horrible feeling I'm going to get bored driving around because the controls are very twitchy and, like all open world games, it's really just a way to pad out the missions in most cases which is becoming very transparent in this genre. I hope to God GTA V has found something different to do there.
The above makes it sound like I'm not enjoying it but I really am, it's just that whenever I first play a game the annoying things sit in my mind more than the good stuff. I fully predict that in a couple of sessions time (which'll be next week sometime the way my life is currently going) I'll be right into it.
