New game by the Alien Homind people, it's out next week.

No idea what it is except for it's 1200 points and thus I don't much care.

Speaking of 1200 points, has anyone bought an Xbox original game from the Marketplace yet?

Black is actually quite expensive for an Xbox original. About £7-8 in every shop I go into.

I'm sure I've seen it in a silly deal for less that 3 or 4 quid... I could be wrong though.

I bought it first time round (and really enjoyed it) so I haven't paid as much attention as a game I haven't got.

Nope. I can't think of an Xbox game I'd download rather than just trying to get hold of an original disc. Black has certainly held its value better than other Xbox games (it's much cheaper on PS2) but I picked up a promo version of the game the other week so I won't be downloading that either.

Had a quick go this morning. Seems like it could be awesome.

A little hesitant as I've bought so many games recently though, and I really want Castle Crashers.

An online, 2D side scrolling beat em up with wonderful art and RPG style progress? Yes please!

XBLA has had a fucking incredible line up for this Summer of Live thing.I know Dudley has legitamet concerns (that I agree with).

But on the other side Geo Wars 2, Bionic Commando and Braid have all been spectacular (BC is in the running for my game of the year). Galaga Legions seems awesome, and if Castle Crashers is, then I can have bought all 5 games for £40.80 (£34.50 if I bought the Asda cards). So about a full price disk game price for 5 games which each on their own surpassed the vast majority of disk games I've played on the system.

Yeah, i'm at work now, but it's impressing me more with time. I may crack and pick it up. Especially if all people like Trousers stick to GeoWars2.

Only a little bit ;)

GR has Centipede DNA rather than Galaga. GR+++ has a mechanic based around bendy fire (you provide the bullet hell) and Sheepie Saves (which fill the player with an adrenalised smugness every time one does it) so I'm off to play GL now and see if it compares in any way.

Oh, and for those wondering, GR+++ has been tested on random members of the public on family days out to see if they hit the Space Giraffe brick wall, and they don't. Accessible hardcore shooters FTW.

Hold on there, your combined score is the sum of all 5 areas. I've only played the first one. I think you'd better keep trying.

Also known as "Gary Glitter's legal defence"

Had a few goes on it when I got in prior to going off to see The Dark Knight (Very good - passed very quick for such a long film). It definitely seems like one to learn the patterns and experiment with satellite positioning rather than being overly reliant on reactions which could scupper me in any long term leaderboard malarkey.

I played through the trial yesterday and it's fucking amazing. Positioning your satellites to deal with each wave is amazing fun, as is getting the legions and placing the satellites on either side to literally fill the screen with bullets and utterly annihilate an enemy wave. And at no point did I have trouble seeing what was going on, unlike too many other shooters. What, and a reasonable price too? Get!!

It is brilliant. It's completely different from GW2 (which I equally love) and I'm getting better and better each time I play by learning the waves. I'd have loved a multiplayer mode, though.

I'm glad I didn't waste my money on Ikaruga now.

The only things I can complain about (so far) are things that Geometry Wars 2 spoilt us with:
Seeing your next friendslist rival instead of a high score and being able to bash the A button and start a new game in about half a second.
Both of those would be really nice.

The only thing I'm a little wary of is the fact it's a little too much a test of memory for my liking and the achievements are RUBBISH.

But overall very good.

Really? I dont have the time to look at my next friend score except may be a glance at the start. Also, when the scores increase exponentially like they do, I find it is very difficult to actually judge how close you are to your friends score anyway.

I played the demo of this last night and I also think it is amazing. Since I have just managed to get Microsoft the scummy bastards to remove* my credit card details from their system I will now have to wait until my prepaid card thingy turns up before I can play the full game.

* This should be implemented into the Xbox controls and its a complete joke that you have to actually ring them up to get them to remove the details. Especially when they have the cheek to renew your subscription automatically.

I meant more in a Geometry Wars style so you that when you died you could be crushed knowing you were only a few seconds away from beating the next person on your list. Now you have to back all the way out of the game and go into the leaderboards to see how you're doing against other people. It was just something that Geometry Wars did a lot better (including displaying a full list where you chose your game, so you could mentally set yourself a target before you started). It's just something else that ruins the flow of start game, die, bash A until game starts again.
I wouldn't recommend trying to keep one eye on the high score in either game.
