I've just discovered almost by accident that if you double-click an .iso file, Windows 8 will just mount a new virtual drive and let you access the files without any faff whatsoever. Woo!
Like what the Mac has been able to do since forever.

Can't imagine there's much to patent.
Possibly to preempt being sued for killing companies by rolling it into the OS and negating their business model.
The difficult bits are already done by the built-in cd burning and VM stuff (which they did buy off someone else and turn into virtual pc ages ago)

os dit that 5 versions ago didn't it?..anyway... my work is finally over to windows seven.. halleluja..... look at p screens in this decennium became rather painful... `(and not being able to open ppts from partners became shameful...)
