It's nearly upon us!

Roy Keane has already quit, National Treasure Gary is yet to shit himself and FIFA is embroiled in a massive corruption scandal over the giving of the 2022 competition to a sandpit of a country built on the back of modern slavery! Brazil might or might not have the stadia ready in time, too. Who knows? Our Great players are already to increase their value and paypackets (only as dividends through companies, though, they won't pay proper tax).I'm tipping France to win; Holland to last 3 days before having a big fall out with each other; myp not watching any of it at all; and the mighty 3 Lions only managin to come third in their group after 2 losses and a dispriting 1-1 draw, but we all know who the real winner is, eh Sepp?

They painted the pub round the corner with red and white and "Come on England!". After speaking to some football type people about the England team's chances of success I can't help thinking that it probably took longer to do than it'll be up for.

Danny Baker's 'Brushing up on the World Cup' show that was on BBC4 the other night is very funny and worth catching.

Indeed. Though it is good for a bit of publicity (very good - Ed) the shameless promotion of the evil BUTCHERS APRON does affect those who have suffered under it's JACKBOOTED HEEL for centuries. As a protected minority, I own't be flying plastic flags REPRESENTING OPPRESION AND SLAUGHTER from either of the cars, nor will I being wearing a shirt or painting a house. I am left with no choice but to support Spain who have under an elected King maanged to throw off the shackles of fascism and bring order, democracy and Chico time to the Western World.

Good man. I am supporting USA. Their group is almost as difficult as England's.

I refuse to take predictions from someone whose team's "Best ever season" was when they lost two cup finals and got relegated.

England to do surprisingly well.

France to also do well.

Holland to not make it out of their group.

Chile to nearly shock the world by getting out of their tough group and then almost beating Brazil.

Germany to win at least one penalty shoot out.

Our company is dressing up each department as a different country to help raise morale during the world cup.

As my suggestion of North Korea was vetoed, they were picked out of a hat, and now IT will be dressed up as Brazil for a month (or however long the world cup lasts).

I'm not bothered about the world cup, although I will maybe enjoy watching some of the games, but coming in every day to yellow and green banners everywhere is not my idea of fun.

I remember watching England v Portugal in Euro 2004 in a field at Glastonbury with thousands of other people. Despite the result it was an amazing experience.

Is there any interest in a fantasy football league? It's free on the sun app and I don't mind taking charge of it if anyone wants to join for say a fiver or tenner, then 75% to the winner and 25% to the second place?

Given the password I'm reconsidering ;)

Happy with any level of buy in. If people want to play for pounds or pennies I'm happy

In France and the locals are not too sure they'll do well. They expect their 'young' team to get out of the first round but that's it.

The German I'm with doesn't think germany will do too well either and will be lucky to get past the first round.

They all think england might beat Italy and if so easily get into the second round.

Mmm.

France were my pick to do better than expected. Well, them and Chile.

I also got them as my second team in the sweepstake, so ALLEZ LES BLEUS!
