I know it's short notice but I'll be staying with the Gaywoods this weekend. Busy on Saturday but if anyone's around for a drink tomorrow evening, give me a shout. I have no idea where we'll be yet...

In, though I have to go home early and not too drunk, as I'm driving at 8am the next day.

I'm free tomorrow evening, pick a pub that lets dogs in (and isn't bloody miles from Islington) and I'll try and make it.

Is Shoreditch ok? I have no idea about dogs, sorry. Maybe someone local can chip in?

I didn't used to like dogs either, but then I met the right dogs.

We can go somewhere else if it suits our needs better.

Trying to find something to satisfy every need is going to be tricky though.

Unfortunately, if it's beyond walking distance from Bank, it may well preclude me. See whether Ive decided to behave by then.

Most of the pubs in shoreditch will be rammed on a warm Friday night so we'll be on the street anyway, so why not pick one on a quiet side street like The Bricklayers, or Barley Mow? Failing that there are several on Hoxton Sq., itself

Just thinking re: food, and if it might be easier for those of us in London from early to eat early so there's no complication re: doggy.

Or head up 5mins walk from Old street towards angel and go to The Wenlock (amazing ale pub).

I've only just got up! A person my age shouldn't be allowed out in Shoreditch anymore, I don't think.

Well, let's be honest here, it was my dog they were interested in.

Had a lot of fun. Wish I could have stayed out longer, but that wouldn't have been great with my 7am start.

By the time we arrived home I'd been awake for 25 hours and 6,000 miles. Lightweight.

How much did you get gouged for the cab?

I ended up walking home, but then it's only a couple of miles for me and even in my staggering state only took about 40 mins I think. Good lord did I feel inappropriately rough most of the morning.

I used Uber last night. Cost me £16 in a Lux car (Mercedes S Class) between Twickenham and Putney because I got a £10 voucher code.

They didn't have normal cars in the area or it would have probably cost me about a fiver!

Santander blocked the payment after I used them, hence their reluctance to send another car.

All fixed now!
