Rammstein! And pervy Snow White!

Always Rammstein. Terrorvision. And Rob Zombie.

Saw Monster Magnet supporting Rob Zombie a few years back. I hear there were "issues" between the two groups on the tour, and considering MM effectively sabotaged the headline act that night, I can well believe it.

Really? How did they sabotage Rob Zombie? Let him actually play? (*giggle* Oh, easy target. I like Rob Zombie really.)

The show started late and it was a Sunday night so there was a 10.30pm curfew rather than 11pm. Zombie apologised for the delay, saying they had had "transportation issues".

However MM played what felt like an extended set with numerous jams and widdly solos culminating in a bit where a buxom young lady was stripped and whipped on stage. It was quite possibly one of the least sexy things I have ever seen and just strung out forever. The entire crowd was very, very bored by this point - I can forgive that sort of thing if it is a stonking show, but they were quite clearly playing the gig only for themselves and done about an hour. Felt like two.

So Zombie had to come on quite quickly, deal with some poor sound for the first few songs and then cut some of the bits out of the set. Everyone did their best (Blasko and his guitar of blood was one of the coolest things I've seen) but by then the night was a washout.

Hi,

This thread is misnamed, and should be titled "Proper Rock Thread (for those that like Kerrang!)".

RAMMSTEIN??? Anyway.

Ok then. When does rock become metal ...become thrash ...become grind ...become noise ...become black ...become death?

One, two, three o'clock, four o'clock, rock,
Five, six, seven o'clock, eight o'clock, grind,
Nine, ten, eleven o'clock, twelve o'clock, death,
We're gonna mosh around the clock tonight.

Put your black rags on and join me, hon,
We'll burn a Finish Church when the clock strikes one,
We're gonna mooch around the bar tonight,
We're gonna flounce our hair, 'til broad daylight.
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight.

Bravo!

And surely nobody could class Terrorvision as anything even approaching metal? I did used to love them, but they're pop/rock, surely?

Balls. I nominate Shelter's 'Putting Our House in Order' project from 1993 on Food, where Hawkwind with Sam Fox covered it, Cud did it with Sandy Shaw on Vocals, and New Model Army took the biscuit with a classic, classic version that had Tom Jones doing vocals with Justin providing backing.

That said, you like some ace stuffs there, mister.

That was my ringtone for about 6 months. I'm now on "If you Want Blood (You've got it)" which means I miss a few calls just 'cos I'm listening to the riff.

Edit : Last concert I went to were this lot : http://www.livewiredc.co.uk/ who are fucking brilliant.

I used to have a similar experience: My ringtone was Crazy Frog and I used to miss tonnes of calls because I was too busy smashing my phone into tiny pieces with a 4lb lump hammer.

I genuinely think that this is one of the funniest videos ever. Can't imagine many other bands sending themselves up like this.

The Benzin video has a similar gag at the end.

Proper Metal = Manowar.

But as this appears to be a pop thread, I'll post a video elsewhere.

Who knows? It all gets incredibly difficult. Let's face it, metal was basically invented by a bunch of Brummies who wanted to play the Blues and couldn't. Then you get bands from Japan for whom genre means nothing. Then you get all the 'heavier than thou' people, and it gets all confusing. Especially when you add in punk, and just separating the punk out from the metal becomes a full time job. And even some parts of a particular band's work might be considered metal, while most of it isn't. Are Led Zepp metal? Nope. What about The Immigrant Song? Erm... look over there! It's a three-headed monkey!

Earth were a blues band, then they changed their name to Black Sabbath and started playing something very different.

Well, early sabbath, particulary the first album, has very obvious blues influences. Which is why the first album is by far and away my favorite. Having said that, I'd be very happy with any of the first 5 albums.

Masters Of Reality for me. Or, actually, the Dio ones. There's some good stuff on the first album, but some average stuff as well. Although, average Sabbath is still worth a listen.

Karnivool's latest album, 'Asymmetry', may be one of the greatest things I've ever listened to.

Here's the video to 'We Are':
