Yo!

Anyone played this yet on PEE-ESS PLOOOOSE?

I'm totally devoted to the awesome that is Ni No Kuni but I turned this on for, what, 15 minutes yesterday and I'm utterly itching to play it now.

The opening narrative: Compelling. That last sentence he says about his mother's face? Sucked me right in.

The very first attack by, um, monsters: Intriguing. Sliding the knife out of the head with the dead eyes? Sucked me right in too.

Then I had a walk around and it was filled with interesting incidental details, moody lighting and Russians. And it looked tha-bizness.

Then I had go on a firing range, which was shit and I knew I didn't want to spoil it until I was ready.

In those 15 minutes it was all Triple-A stuff and I'm seriously looking forward to playing it. SRLY. After Ni No Kuni. So in another 40 gaming hours, dammit.

It's quite good, actually.

But I'm sorry, you should carry on discussing the game.

I include myself in the following: Keep it on topic for just a little while, folks.

So I went to wikipedia to find out if you need to have played the previous game to follow the story.
Wikipedia wrote:
The game is set in a post-apocalyptic Moscow, part of the universe of the novel Metro 2033 and its sequels, written by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky, but does not follow any direct storylines from the books. Previously announced as Metro 2034, the game is a sequel to the video game Metro 2033, and although Glukhovsky did work with developer 4A Games, it bears no relation to the book Metro 2034. Rumours on his website point to the upcoming book, Metro 2035, to be a novelisation of Metro: Last Light.

I enjoyed the last game, played a couple of hours of this the other night. Really enjoying it so far. I'm just running and gunning my way so far but although this is an option I think I might start again on a higher difficulty so that the lighting comes more into play, it's not called last light for nothing I don't think.

I must confess, I though Metro 2033 was a bit rubbish. Is this one different?

I liked 2033 but I think I was more impressed by the concept than the actual execution IYSWIM.

Anyway I downloaded this at the weekend and will give it a go in a bit as an alternative to BF4

I've never played 2033 but I hear on the great vine that this is a huge improvement all round.

Well, if you're going to listen to any fruit plants you might as well go to the best.

I've played an hour and it's gone from interesting to generic. Plus the shine has gone off it the moment I started walking about. Or maybe it was because I was playing Outlast yesterday which was smooth as silk and had more frames or something. Something's taken the rose tint off whatever it is.

It might have been when someone told me to follow them in the shadows. Fuck me I'm bored of doing that in a FPS.

Edit: No, I'm not bored of it, I've become furiously intolerant.

Mutant things are ok but there's aliens?

I hope this ends soon as I'm seriously bored of it and I'm only persevering to put it on my Finish 52.

It suffers from some serious waypoint issues and there's been a few times when I've wandered about not knowing what I'm supposed to do to trigger the next event. The gunplay ranges from easily dispatching men with headshots to mutants that furiously surround you; so you sit in a corner and soak up damage whilst reloading your shotgun. It's dull.

And I'm sick of being made to shuffle behind someone who walks so frickin slowly, or made to wait at a door until they finally arrive. It's tedious.

And I'm sick of my gas mask cracking and causing a large part of the screen to be obscured. It's kinda cool then it's annoying. Although I do love the sound when you wipe your mask. That's the best bit of it.

The story is a bag-o-shite too. This infected bit happens and if the guy hadn't explicitly told me what was happening I'd have never have got it. And if my guy reads out what's happening in between levels then why the fuck doesn't he utter a word in the game itself. Stupid facking one way conversations and people talking as though you're not there does not equal player agency. The guy has GOT a voice. I can bloody hear him between levels. I've no idea why he's a painful mute to everyone around him. At one point you stumble across a bunch of people who might shoot you but they quickly decide you're alright despite you not saying a single word. It's STUPID. Hnnngh.

And aliens? Jesus.

ENDED! Yay!

I'd struggle to recommend this to anyone, really. If you've played a FPS before, then you've probably played a FPS better than this.

I am playing Metro 2033 Redux at the moment. It is average. I do not know why I am playing it. I am alway out of ammo, can only carry 3 guns and I think I fucked myself over in weapon choice (always low on ammo? AK47 all the way!). I am about half way through. Not feeling it at all.
