Clearly, Californication is one of the best TV shows ever made. Moody is epic.

Anyway, Mrs Grim... walked in while I was watching one of the season six episodes and decreed that she'd like to watch it from the start.

We got to the end of the first series and I think she should leave it there. Series 2 onward (while being very good) cheapened the ending of series one, which was pretty much perfect, especially watching it for a second time.

What say you, fellow fans of brilliant television?

It's great all the way through, fewl.

Though, I don't disagree about S1 being self contained awesome.

It was clearly only ever meant to be twelve episodes long.

Duchovny is sex on a stick. Keep watching for Mrs Grim...'s sake.

You are both right. The quality of 2 goes down, but then it goes back up again and stays on a high.

Netflix keeps really pimping this show out to me, now that it's had a long time to 'learn' what sort of stuff I like and don't like. (I've found its recommendations to be consistently excellent since it managed to harvest a decent amount of data.)

Guess I should finally get round to making a start on it.

If it helps, nearly every episode is a solid 1 on the Craster scale.

Oh watch it, it's brilliant. Duchovny is a god.

That's not my main issue - I really enjoyed all the following seasons, but the existence of series 2 (and on) made series 1 worse.

Only got to watch the first episode this evening but it was very good stuff, and that's before you even factor in its off-the-scale qualities on the Craster scale.

Didn't feel too 'piloty' either, which was a problem I had with Breaking Bad, where two or three episodes were needed for it to find its stride, Californication just seemed to hit the ground running.

Definitely going to fire up another episode tomorrow. And hoorah for digital distribution, the very idea of putting a disc into a drive to watch something these days is borderline offensive.

And your missus will keep watching it because of sexy Duchovny.

It's a real family show!

It is Sex and the City, but for men.

Dude, you *can't* be off the scale on the Craster scale. It's fucking binary.

You haven't updated http://www.thecrasterscale.co.uk/ if so.

Anyway, how much more complicated can a measure of "tits/no tits" get?
