Best Film: Star Trek: Into Darkness, maybe? Damnit, I really want to watch Stand Up Guys.
Best console game: Saint's Row IV
Best moment: Floating in the carribean while a dude brought us mojitos, I reckon.
Best night out: The Saturday before going on holiday. Getting so hammered between 5:30 and 7:30pm that getting a taxi home at that point seemed entirely reasonable.

Best Film: Lincoln.
Best Song: Frank Turner's 'Polaroid Picture'
Best Album: 'The Beast in its Tracks' by Josh Ritter. Frank Turner's 'Tape deck heart' comes a close second, but Ritter's feels more complete as an album

Best night out: Beexbeeque, and the music quiz I went to back in April.

Best Film: Yeah, Star Trek pretty much kicked ass.
Best Song: Lady Gaga: Applause
Best Album: Haven't listened to a whole album from this year but it'd probably be whatever it's called by Rihanna as I have more of her songs from this year than any other artist.
Best console game: Erm. I've only played one game released this year, COD: Ghosts so that'd have to be it by default.
Best PC game: You can play games on PCs...?
Best handheld/phone game: Too busy texting.
Best game: COD: Ghosts by the same default as above.
Best moment: After spending three nights after work building Ikea furniture until gone midnight, being able to stand back and think "this is going to be a good home", that whole week topped everything this year.
Best night out: A Saturday night out in Liverpool, lots of cocktails, good food, seeing someone have their first Jaegarbomb and really not liking it, staggering back to the hotel and pretending to be German to a group of students. Then deciding to ditch the hotel in favour of some dingy rock club, being at least 10yrs older than the next oldest people in there and jumping around to RATM whilst being so overdressed and out of place that we probably started a new hipster trend.

I'm with Doc; I thought the Star Trek film was absolutely awful.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
What a *waste* of Khan; the finest ST storyline and arch villain ever, laid utterly to waste with this rushed, cliched, flimsy effort. The whole Spock-Kirk role reversal thing was particularly rubbish, at least for me. Can anyone honestly say this film holds a candle to the original STII? I hate what JJ Abrams has done to the franchise, most especially on his second, and thankfully last, outing. Oh, and Simon Pegg as Scotty...? Really?

I have literally no idea what things I consumed this year. Should I have been keeping a list, or something? Is that what you folk do?

At least I have a new year's resolution now: Keep a list of all things watched/listened to, so that I can participate in all of the "2014 roundup" threads that will inevitably appear.

Best Film: I really enjoyed Gravity, not sure it's my favourite of the year though.
Best Song: Drinking from the Bottle by Calvin Harris is a good shout! Every time I hear it I think about making a playlist for my wedding. That, or Bones by MS MR.
Best Album: Probably Candy Bar Creep Show by MS MR
Best console game: Tough one, either The Last of Us or GTA V.
Best PC game: Not played any.
Best handheld/phone game: Minions!
Best game: board game for me, since 2013 was the year I discovered them. I'd say Carcassonne.
Best moment: 18th January when my girlfriend proposed to me in Central Park :)
Best night out: I've had so few nights out because of my shift at work! Hogmanay was an incredible start to the year, best one for years. One of my good friends got married this year as well and that was a great day and night.

Best Film: Probably Iron Man 3.
Best Song: Cripes, haven't listened to anything new this year.
Best Album: Ditto. Oh - I have listened to the London Philharmonic Orchestra's "Best Videogame Music" album on Youtube about a zillion times.
Best console game: GTA V has taken up more of my time than anything else.
Best PC game: Company of Heroes, still
Best handheld/phone game: Not played any.
Best game: GTA V
Best moment: There have been quite a few good ones this year. The trip to Singapore was a highlight. The kids starting rugby and being brilliant. The gorgeous idyllic two week holiday with Mrs K and the kids staying right on a beach. Catching a baby cuttlefish!
Best night out: I've barely had any this year, so probably my birthday last week - it was great to have so many of the family in one place.

I also have the habit of rating books on Goodreads, but their ratings just don't have the same weight as IMDB's. Makes sense, as people usually don't read books that they know they won't like. It's a much bigger time investment.

Best Film: Iron Man 3. Honorable mentions to Compliance, Shame, Dredd, Silver Linings Playbook, Much Ado About Nothing.
Best Song: iTunes says I don't own anything recorded in 2013. In terms of music I bought this year, probably Stadium Love by Metric.
Best Album: see above. Again, in terms of what I bought, maybe Not Your Kind Of People by Garbage. Honourable mentions to Bleed Like Me (also Garbage) and Fantasies by Metric.
Best console game: The Last Of Us. Second place is GTA V.
Best PC game: Barely played any. Shadowrun, maybe. Might change my mind if I check my Steam history.
Best handheld/phone game: Depending on how the next few weeks go, Persona 4 Golden might take this. For now, Hotline Miami.
Best game: The Last Of Us.
Best moment: Leaving my interview at Google and knowing, absolutely knowing, that I'd smashed it. I didn't know I had the job, not a clue, but I knew I couldn't have done anything else to be any better, and that was all I needed right then.
Best night out: Hmm. Not sure. In terms of being badly drunk, probably the night I went for cocktails with Cras and not-from-here Ryan. In terms of eating a meal, maybe Hawksmoor with Danielle in August.

Best Album: as above. I'm sure there's something amazing I haven't heard. Swans, Propagandhi, Fang Island, Black Breath, Enabler, Sleigh Bells from last year were all better than anything I've heard from this. Maybe RockaByeBaby by Cassie. Or the Carcass one.

It's really good. Like the use of special moves in the otherwise match-three gameplay, and you know, Marvel! :)

I had it installed on my phone and uninstalled it pretty quickly but I can't remember if it was the F2P bullshit or always-online DRM that drove me to get rid of it. The latter might be an Android only thing but it's becoming an increasing fucking annoyance. Designing a game for mobile devices that cannot actually be played within the kind of reception blackspots that most commutes have at times is just idiotic.

I've been pretty obsessed with it for the last week or so, and have never had the urge (nor had the urge thrust upon me by the game) to buy anything. Its nowhere near your Candy Crushes of this world.

But in the truest sense of the phrase, I can't argue with the assertion that it is, indeed, free to play. I'm cool with that.
