I need to replace my 360 as it red ringed for the third time recently. I am going to get a new one. What do I need to know in terms of making the change over? Can I take the hard drive out of the old one and put it in the new one? Is this even necessary. How do I get my content, game saves etc transferred across?

The model I have now is from 2006.

The new ones have a different hard drive, so you'd need either a transfer cable (These exist, but have never used one so can't talk about what hard drives it's compatible with) or another original style 360 to put your hard drive in and move everything to a usb device.

Scrap that; I'm having it repaired locally. Thanks anyway, what a faff.
