I watched the pilot of this last night and bow howdy did they squeeze a lot into 1 hour of telly. I spotted nods to The Shining, Amytiville, Poltergeist and Rosemary's Baby without even trying. I quite liked it, aside from the theme tune which was literally grating, but MrsPaz wasn't sure. How can I convince her it's worth continuing?

I enjoyed Series 1. I haven't started Series 2 yet. You can tell her you get to see more of the housemaid, if that helps.

S2 was a confused mess IMO, and not a patch on the first.

S3 sounds like it could go either way.

Yeah, I gave up 2/3rds of the way through. I loved the theme and atmosphere, though.

saw about three episodes of season 1 and i didn't liked it one bit. Completely full of obvious clichés, and not in an interesting post-modernist way.

It's really good. I liked it, and so did quite a few other people on here (you can trawl through the US TV thread to find mentions of it).

Yeah, but it was more than a month ago so most of those people have left.

Let me tell you this: Season 1 is one of the greatest bits on telly ever made. It's focused in its own warped fiction and "that episode" blew my mind when I watched it; absolutely incredible stuff. Seriously, I bloody fell in love with it. Everyone I've talked to about it thought it was utterly fabulous from start until, well, about 30 minutes until the end of the last episode which was a bit dry. But it'd ended before that epilogue anyway.

Watch it. Watch it with your face balls. Now.

Then don't bother with season 2 at all.

It's a mess of ideas thrown at you like one big splat in the face. Then you're wiping the crap out your face and it goes back in time and throws a whole new pile of dung in your face. It's such a mess that it takes the last 3 episodes to resolve the many threads. Thing is though, those last 3 episodes are pure gold. If they'd started in the same vein season 2 would have been groovylicious. It was almost heartbreaking to watch after the twisted genius of season 1.

It's got a lot in common with Nip/Tuck (who wrote this too) who wrote a brilliant season and then a shit one and then a great one and so on. I'm still looking forward to season 3 just because I'm hoping the writers will right the wrongs of seasons 2.

We've just started this (two episodes in and I love it - especial the lady from next door and the sexy maid lady. Oh - I have no idea what will happen and I love it! The production values seem really high and the whole thing just looks fab.

Fabby fab fab.

Did not know this had a dedicated thread. Hang on, I better check I've not posted in here before...

... anyway, first season is terrific especially 'that' episode later on (which I thought was TV at its best). You can safely ignore season 2 and probably 3 as well.
