To cap it off I've tried Capsized.

It's Exile! No, hang on, no, it ain't.

I like the atmospheric music but the graphics are a bit ropey (some nice detail in there though) and the combat relies on holding down the left bumper throughout to lock on to baddies. The cartoon drawings telling the story are, unfortunately, terribly shit. Shame, I thought I was going to like that at the start...

Case Zero : http://marketplace.xbox.com/Product/DR2 ... e#LiveZone

Isn't Flashback out yet? I'm going to turn on my Xbox and find out the old fashioned way. Back in a min.

This is from the same developer who released "Amy" last year which got 1's and 2's because it was so broken

Eurogamer and IGN both gave it a 5

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/08/21/flashback-review

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013- ... ack-review

Quote:
"That's something you could never say about the original Flashback, for all its faults. It might have been obtuse, fussy and frustrating, but it had a clarity of purpose and vision that this anniversary edition struggles to match. Time may not have been particularly kind to Flashback, but 20 years on, it hasn't been forgotten. It's unlikely we'll be able to say the same for this remake in 20 days."

Quote:
Unfortunately, whilst competent in execution and steeped in nostalgia, this remake of the 1992 classic Flashback doesn’t quite have the firepower or ingenuity to measure up in its own right against the current standard in platformers. It lacks the combat variety of a Shadow Complex or the distinctive art style of a Deadlight, and while its story still manages to intrigue there’s not enough moment-to-moment gameplay payoff to sustain it along the way. Flashback will certainly bring back some good memories, it just won’t create any new ones.

This is the worst shit I've played in my life.

Those rotoscope graphics from, what, 30 fucking years ago were smoother than the shit that's on offer here. It's un-fucking-believable. 50 year old animation is better than this shit? I'm, just, flabbagasted.

"That" iconic opening sequence? RUINED. Let's all reenact it using stools of steaming elephant shit moulded into characters while I piss on your memories. All over your precious memories, a-ha ha ha ha.

But wait! It's the future of gaming so Brad, or whatever his name was, I'm so furious I can't remember, can talk out his face! Yessir! And let's make him a bit English and, because this is the future and gaming is the exclusive past time of eight year old children, let's make him ultra-cool so within 3 minutes of LOSING HIS MEMORY IN A CRASH WHICH BARELY REGISTERS SECONDS AFTER IT HAPPENS he's yelling "Woo-hoo, let's party" when he shoots some indistinguishable floating robot that were never in the original game.

And it has a map screen made out of blocks. And the graphics are shit. The backgrounds are shit. If you stand still and listen to the ENDLESSLY REPEATING BIRD NOISE (the high pitched one THAT NEVER STOPS) you'll surely end up slamming an orange in your mouth and stringing yourself up naked in the shed using a hardy leather belt.

Whoever did this never played Flashback. And they hate you. And themselves. The cunts.

Score: One festering rotten banana crammed up your bottom.

If they'd HD'd the graphics and left the rest of the game exactly the same except with a bit less of a sadistic saving system, it would have been brilliant.

There's a new Xbox dashboard update which has converted my 3490 points into £29.92.

I suppose it makes it easier to buy stuff now but 3490 points sounds a hell of a lot more than £29.92 so I'm a little disappointed.

Isn't 160 points meant to be a £1? That's 8 quid for nothing there man.

I suppose it will make it easier in that you know exactly how much you're paying for something, but how that makes it easier to download stuff using Windows Phone 8 is beyond me?

Also, now that things are in pounds, does that mean you can pay the exact amount for something and not have to put multiples of £5 on your account?

I imagine you can now just buy a game and it debits your card? Before I would try to buy it, be informed that I had insufficient points, navigate to the points buying window, navigate back to try and remember how many I needed, go back to buy the points, have to go fetch my wallet as I last bought points three years ago, then update my address for the new card, etc.

Just wanted to remind you guys that "One Finger Death Punch" is a cracking indie game.

I posted about it a couple of pages back but I don't think anyone gave a shit (which is fair enough since I rarely post on here - I'm generally more of a reader than a poster).

Eurogamer have reviewed it now though. Maybe that will convince some of you to give it a go.
It's 69p by the way :

Septembers 2 free games are Magic 2013 (so a game which already has the next version out) and Rainbow 6 Vegas (a game from 7 years ago right at the start of the Xbox360s life)

http://majornelson.com/2013/08/30/games ... six-vegas/

Quote:
Games with Gold for September: Magic 2013 and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas

The next set of free games for Xbox Live Members in September will be Magic 2013 and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas.

Starting Sunday (September 1st) Magic 2013 (Normally US $9.99) will be free for Xbox LIVE Gold members through September 15th .

Then on September 16th, Xbox Live Gold Members can download Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas (Normally US $19.99) for free. Note: South Africa Xbox Live members will receive Shadowrun instead of RSV.

As a reminder, the “Games With Gold” program gives Xbox LIVE Gold Members 2 free games to keep each month. A new title will be available the 1st and 16th of each month.

Oh great - today is the 1st so Magic is now free

http://marketplace.xbox.com/Product/Mag ... e#LiveZone

However since they have changed the system so that points no longer exist i cant get it online as when i select it i'm told that I havent given them my credit card number (which is correct - i've never given them it and have always used points cards and subscription cards) and that i cant buy this 'free' game until i do.

So i'll try later on the actual Xbox

Of course I do haev around £11 'credit' on there from my old points when they did the conversion but that obviously doesn't count :-(

I was in the beta so mines was convered around a month ago - however you cant use the balance on Xbox.com because i dont have a credit card linked to my account.

During the beta I could use it because i could hit the button to switch to 'points' and it would cost 0 points (which i had :-)

Now the beta is over I cannot 'buy' anything from xbox.com unless i give them my credit card details regardless of how much 'money' i have in my account

Okay - worked for me on the console itself and it knows I have £13.odds in credit and the game costs 'zero' - but it does mean that you have to actually get to your xbox and remember to go download it whereas before you could just click 'buy' on xbox.com at any time and you had the game.

For people who dont have their xbox to hand for whatever reason its annoying that they are basically locking you out

That was an option before but it seems to be missing right now - i will check and see if its possible on the console but i dont want to link anything which Microsoft could then accept as payment for something - just look at all the people on here who had their xbox account compromised - i'm pretty sure that was nothing that they did - but if the account was linked to a credit card (or probably paypal) then the people who hijacked the accounts could burn through whatever the daily limit is on the cards , some of the stories I read about that at the time were from Americans who had 900 or 1200 dollars racked up on their credit card (3 or 4 days worth of abuse) because they were not home or available at the time of the initial theft and had credit cards linked up to their account.

New 'rewards' website launched

http://rewards.xbox.com/

Looks very similar to the old one and I dont like the fact that its giving all the info as American (so gain 5000 points which will be converted to $5 - is that also £5 or some weird conversion rate which would give me £3.10 or similar)

** edit theres a little twisty thing at the bottom to select your country - changing it to the UK gives you

Quote:
— What is the monetary value of Rewards Credits?
A. 5,000 Rewards Credits are equal to £3.35.

£3.60-odd to not be preciser. You also get 67p for every new disc-game you play for more than 10 hours. "New" as in "released that week" if I'm reading rightly.

So you need to get hold of it and rack up 10 hours of gameplay before its been out for 30 days to gain 1000 points (or your 67p)

One of their other deals at the moment is if in the next month you spend about £35 on map packs you can get £3.35 back

Whats the betting on what you'll get for your birthday - in the past it was 20 moon points - i'm thinking 500 'reward' points ? (so about 30p)

Oh I also did the survey thing which now nets you 250 'reward' points , so if i do 4 of those for 1000 , and then 5 groups of that ...... so take 20 surveys for them (one a month for the next 20 months) and i'll get £3.odds - bargain !

Anyway Dimmers will be coining it in because he's a Master (insert picture of Roger Delgado) and will get *300* reward points for every £6.70 you spend on the shop (i'm only a leg end and will get 200 points instead)

Quote:
You achieved, now receive.

It's the perfect way to get rewarded for having fun on Xbox Live Rewards. As a Gold member, MyAchievements lets you unlock four levels of payback based on your Gamerscore— Contender, Champion, Legend or Master. The higher the tier, the greater the rebate you'll receive on purchases in the Xbox Stores when you spend at least £6.70!

Contender 3000 - 9999
For every £6.70 you spend, get 50 Rewards Credits
Champion 10000 - 24999
For every £6.70 you spend, get 100 Rewards Credits
Legend 25000 - 74999
For every £6.70 you spend, get 200 Rewards Credits
Master 75000+
For every £6.70 you spend, get 300 Rewards Credits

So for me , 200 points for every £6.70 - so i need to spend £167.50 to get my £3 odd discount !

Wow , thank you Microsoft.

Yeah but if they didn't then rather than getting '250' points for doing their survey they would have to say you'll get 16 pence and cannot actually get that 16 pence until you round it up to some odd £3.something number.

Or you'd get the *** SPEND £167.50 on Xbox and we'll give you £3 back !!!! *****

Instead its your spending money and getting 200 points for every £6.70 you spend

Plus then, when they dump the system they won't have to deposit all those 16 pences into everyone's accounts in good faith.

When they cancelled the last point-based system they deposited 100 points into my account. Dunno whether I'd reached that or not. I suspect not.

They sent me codes instead (I think because i was part of the recent beta so they could not just add points) and they worked for me - I guess the thing is many people may well not have even noticed since they have either let their XBL lapse or no longer have an Xbox

Info taken from various places and i'm not near my xbox to test this but there are enough people posting success so if you fancy a free game

"Injustice: Gods Among Us is free on the Costa Rican XBL Marketplace."

Quote:
1. On your computer make a new Windows Live account with Costa Rica as your region (an Outlook address is easiest).

2. On your Xbox make a new profile, again with Costa Rica as your region.

3. Create a new profile on your Xbox and use the Outlook address when you have to enter an email.

4. Go to the tab that lets you press Y to search.

5. Search for Injustice. The first thing on the list should be the full game. Click download and make sure the file size is 7.8 gigs or thereabouts. When it starts downloading, cancel it.

6. On your computer go to the Xbox account migration page. Sign in with the email address you created in step 1 and change your region to United Kingdom.

7. Signing in to the account migration page probably booted you out of your Xbox profile, so go back to your Xbox and sign in again. You should see the UK storefront. Go into your Account and go to Purchased Items and start the download again.

Can't you only migrate items once a year or something like that? Worth bearing in mind but I'll have a look later. I'm a sucker for a free game.

Yes you can - but what your doing is creating a dummy account - sayings its in Costa Rica and migrating it

XBL licenses are granted to the XBL account (which is this dummy one) and the first Xbox the game is downloaded to (which will be yours) - so you get the game , download it and then ignore and never use the Costa Rica account again - you just play it on your normal one
