This grass wear is doing my head in! Only recently was made aware that it was a 'feature' of the previous Animal Crossings. There isn't a reliable way to deal with it, is there?

I've not noticed it too much in this version, whereas I think it was much, much worse on the Wii.

Is that the little areas of grass that look a little like weeds ?

I end up digging them up and filling them in to keep things looking the same but had no idea what caused it or why it happened

No, it's areas of your lawn/grass that wear away to a brown/sandy colour if you run around your town in the same areas every day, much like you'd find in real life.

There were many complaints about the same thing in the Wii AC, but the rate of wear is apparently much decreased in this version.

I think this picture is the Wii version, but you can see where the areas this person has run has turned to dirt path:

I have a fair amount of this in my town, though to be fair I do tend to run a lot and so likely cause much of it myself.

Still, I've read you can help it all to re-grow, albeit slowly, by planting flowers etc in those areas (and by not running, clearly!)

In other news... I now have an awesome 2nd floor in my house, and more space overall, so I'm right happy with my layout now, and my furniture and all that.

Also made a massive killing on the turnips this week. Bought a load for 107 Bells each last Sunday, and yesterday evening sold them for about three times as much. Got an enormous lump sum of cash, which paid off my mortgage and also plenty left over for a camp site which I've had built, so looking forward to getting some random strangers visiting me.

I'm building a second floor to my museum at present. When I have it built I am going to curate the most creepy exhibition in one of the rooms that you can dare to imagine.

I street passed seven people today, one from Japan, one Swiss, one Danish, one American, one Australian and two Scottish. All but one had been playing AC.

I have been in their houses and bought much furniture.

God knows what they'll think of my creepy Russell room. I'm moving it to a museum exhibit at the mo, though, so it as creepy as it was!

The Streetpass thing is kind of creepy in itself though, don't you think? I mean it's all legit and 'safe' as no real personal details are swapped, still I always feel a little odd when I find I've 'picked up' someone, as it feels a bit intrusive.

That said, it goes without saying that I enjoy nosing around their houses. :D

I'm bit really too bothered with street pass, after all you don't have to turn it on and it's not really showing me anything. This is the first time I've really seen any benefit to it, though - to try and bulk up my catalogue and to have a look to see if they have any pieces of the furniture collections that I'm on the look out for that I can order!

Oh sure, I completely agree as to the benefits of it. In general I take my 3DS out with me all the time now, and just keep it in standby mode in my bag, so I have half a chance of collecting some hits.

On another subject, but still in AC, I visited the Club LOL place last night and was encouraged to dance! This was a nice surprise as the club had opened a few days ago but I hadn't been inside yet. And so there I was, dancing by myself, while the DJ fella did his thing. Genuinely made me laugh and it was so well done.

If you're around tonight give me a prod and I'll fruit you up like a greengrocer.

At some point you'll be given an option to buy later or earlier closing times.

I recently acquired the wetsuit and now spend much of my time running off the cliffs and leaping into the sea. This makes me stupidly happy (both in the game and in real life). :)

3DS get! It's a tad minimal, innit.

Now I just have to wait for the charger. My mum has a DS she doesn't use, but that's the one DS-family thing whose charger doesn't work with this. Thanks, Nintendo!

You need to get your friend code in here.

Also.. Has anyone else been playing Donkey Kong on the 3DS? It's ace, but really hard.

I didn't but I saw a tweet about it. I haven't played Animal Crossing for a few weeks now. I just haven't found the time and Donkey Kong is taking over.

Not custom ones but a few I bought from Nook's store, and yeah, I did enjoy the display in general, and wandered around a bit on Sunday night taking it all in.

I'm still totally loving the game, just not spending every evening on it, but don't want my town to get messed up so have enacted the clean town policy thing, so my flowers get watered and I don't suffer from loads of weeds if I have a couple of days away.

Which leads me to...

Oh noes! You may return to find your town littered with weeds and maybe bugs in your house. Get back in there, before it's too late!

Not so much with the Beautiful Town ordinance in place. :)

I'd wondered if people had stopped playing AC:NL, as I never see any Beexers with their 3DSes online any more. I'm still playing every day, if only for a quick 20 minutes to dig up the fossils and plant some flowers.

I currently have three 3DS games currently sitting sealed and unplayed (Donkey Kong, Mario Tennis Open, and, err, New Art Academy) due to Animal Crossing. :)

I'm still on it several times a week, just not hours at a time anymore, since I've got the structure of my town sorted now (re-planted fruit trees where I want them, etc), so don't need to be there every day now.

I've still loads to do though, with tons more things to build and pay for, and I still want to expand my house and things like that. I'm happy to do all this in a nice steady timeframe though.

I'm really looking forward to winter arriving in my town. And lovely Christmas. :)

Tesco seem to be having a bit of a clearout on 3DS games , and as usual are not doing a good job of telling people about it

There were a few posts on Hotukdeals about it yesterday and i tried my luck this morning on the way into work to find that the 3DS shelves just looked like normal with games around the £35 mark - however I took a few along to the customer service desk and they scanned up at £5

Titles confirmed to be at this price

Rabbids 3D
Rayman Origins
Rayman 3D
Tetris 3D
Kingdom Hearts

Worth checking if you are close to a large Tesco and dont go by whats on the price sticker - take them to the customer services desk to get the price confirmed.

I just registered my AC, though their web site appears to be rubbish, as I entered all my details and it said "here is your code blah blah", only there wasn't any code displayed. :belm:

It also told me the code would be emailed, though I've not received that yet either. :belm:

Still! If it ever turns up you're welcome to have it unless someone else beats me to it.

Okay - i logged back in and still no code - went to the 'my account section' and the questionaire was back for me - i filled it in and *this time* got the code displayed on screen.

Do you want to try that again - and right now i have a code for someone who's not yet registered their 3DS if anyone wants it ping me

BTW I know Nintendo games are normally expensive but with this current promotion.

I bought 3 games in a 3 for 2 offer from Amazon.DE , used the Monster Hunter code to get a free copy of Monster Hunter to give to someone on here , and got a free game for myself (Animal Crossing) as part of the buy 3 get one free deal on Nintendo - and i'm now using that Animal crossing game to get another freebie for someone else.

So paid for 2 games from Amazon and got 6 games for it ! (the 3 i first got + my free Animal Crossing + Monster Hunter freebie + Animal Crossing freebie)

Everyone may be indifferent about Wii U, but Nintendo's recent 3DS offers have all been rather crafty.
