A good point has been made in the 3BQ thread that we don't have a central place for Beex-related photos.

I proposed an uploader right here on the site that you just stick all your photos in, and then choose (or create) an album, and bosh. I'll write a thing that displays the album in a post, and perhaps show a selection of the newer thumbnails on the home page (that's the home page, not the view topics page). Albums could be set to "private", and would only be show in the "members only" forum.

I'd also suggest that the moderators are pretty strict about it, to avoid hundreds of photos of cocks*.

Yup. Sounds ideal. If nothing else, being able to do multiple uploads that aren't one at a time would be of enormous benefit.

Weeeeeeeell, I don't think it should be considered an alternative to the current 'post attachment' thing - for starters it wouldn't be right there as you make a post, and you'd still have to link each picture using the URL.

True, but if you're doing 10, uploading them all then linking with image tags would be much simpler than attaching one at a time.

Don't make it open for creating albums. Set it to mods only or something.

Do think that mod control of album creation is a good one though, it's brilliant for meet ups and such like for multiple pic uploads, but for the oh look at this one thing I did the topics are the better place, me thinks

Aye, I agree. This will be the official record of Beex, to be handed down the ages, it should be mod controlled.

I'd quite like the album creation to be mod controlled (e.g. Cott4ge Album, 3BQ album etc...) and there to be two distinct parts of the album. Section 1 that everyone can upload their pics to for that album and everyone can see, and Section 2 where the mods (or others, maybe we should have a vote on photo approvers? NervousPete would be an obvious candidate of taste, Malia less so ) approve a subset of the submitted pictures that can then be used for official Beex purposes, whatever they may be.

You can either choose to link to the full album, or the approved subset album, depending on need.

All dropbox uploads have a URL too, don't they? and you can set folders to public. How you get the specific URL for an individual item is just detail...

You have to invite people to public folders, though. Irritatingly.

Sounds good to me. I'll be uploading mine to Google in a moment and posting here - maybe in a new thread with a Part 1 and Part 2 as there's rather many of them!
