It had an 8 digit display. I could only guess at what it actually required. I also thought I needed a key that I don't have. Do try to keep up.

You people and your new fangled treasure chests. In my day you just had to sneak onto a ship full of undead fishpirates and steal a squid man's key whilst he was playing an organ.

He didn't need the keys. The display was still working and he used the factory master code from the instructions to unlock it. Fortunate that the owners didn't change it really.

Out flew every kind of disease and sickness, hate and envy, and all the bad things that people had never experienced before. Pandora slammed the lid closed, but it was too late. All the bad things were already out of the box. They flew away, out into the world.

Epimetheus woke up at the sound of her sobbing.

“I opened the box and all these ugly things flew out,” Pandora cried. “I tried to catch them, but they all got away!” Pandora opened the box to show him how empty it was. But the box was not quite empty. One tiny bug flew quickly out before Pandora could slam the lid shut again.

“Hello, Pandora,” said the bug, hovering just out of reach. “My name is Hope.” With a nod of thanks for being set free, Hope flew out into the world, a world that now held Envy, Crime, Hate, and Disease – and Hope.

You're quite right. We should lynch him to make sure he is who he says he is.

I'm not sure 123456 is that obvious on a safe that prompts for 8 digits. Admittedly I didn't try 12345678 either, but that's hardly the point.

I broke in to a safe very similar to this one recently because the batteries had run down and my ex didn't know where the backup key was.

There's a bunch of youtube videos on how to bump the locks on these pieces of shit. The videos advise you to bang on the top of the display to bump the lock mechanism while turning the handle - the video I watched showed a guy using a variety of items from a can of bear to a potato, just to demonstrate you can whack it with pretty much anything to make it open.

Sadly this didn't work for me, but I'd also read that if you stand it up lengthways on the non-hinged side, and push it over, the handle will turn as it bumps the ground. Probably took a dozen attemps to get the timing right but it opened up sure enough.

When I'm cycling around I can see over the drystone walls into the fields. It is really incredibly common to see a sheep walking about with its head stuck through a bucket. The bottom of teh buckety apepars to have beenr emoved and the sheep has stuck its ehad through the resulting tube. it never fails to amuse me. No idea why they do this. maybe it is a farmer stopping it chewing itself or something.

Most likely to stop the sheep biting itself if it has had treatment for something. You see dogs with them on quite often.

Alternatively, sheep are incredibly stupid, so it could well have done it by itself...

A sheep that gets its head stuck in a bucket: dinner.
A sheep that finds a bucket, chews the bottom off and then gets its head stuck in it: either very not dinner, or very very dinner. Not sure if dinner yet.
