Saw Despicable Me 2 today.

Daughter almost wet herself a number of times and I laughed out loud more times than I think I ever have at a kids' film.

If she asked me to take her to see it again I wouldn't complain.

The Minion bits at the end during the credits use 3d to such an extent that I swear it was fucking magic.

I went to see that film about the superhero they jokingly dub "Superman" at one point in the film.

This was a spur of the moment thing based on a couple of listener reviews read out on the Kermode/Mayo film review prog. which were overwhelmingly positive. I'd previously not really fancied it based on Kermode's own somewhat mixed review but if some actual punters wrote in to say it was great, that's got to count for something, right?

Nope. Turns out neither Kermode or the correspondents were right.

The first 2/3, according to Kermode "the good section", was mawkish and obvious in its allegory, the final act being a tedious extended fight sequence where despite saving a hard-hatted workman or two not even Superman seems to give a shit about the mass of eardrum-shredding carnage. And it turns out Kryptonian technology is based on The Covenant from Halo and those pin-art things you used to get from Athena.

A better title would have been "Space Jesus Vs. The UltraPharisees". 3/10

I've not had any particular desire to see this film and your review has further convinced me not to bother.

I liked it, so don't worry. You could tell which were the Nolan bits ('how could you apply this paradigm to a real world context?'), and which were the Snyder bits ('BIG MEN GO POW!'), and the pacing was a bit off.

But the acting was generally insanely good for a superhero film, there is both male and female beauty in it, and it's definitely worth watching on a big screen.

I was intentionally vague to avoid spoiler-you-do.

I watched the newer Spider Man film tonight. I wasn't expecting much as the reviews were pretty poor, but I quite enjoyed it. Solid. 100 better than emo spidey in the previous trilogy.

Went to see Despicable Me 2 with a couple of the kids I work with. Good stuff! Haven't seen the first one, but I was pissing myself laughing for most of it.

1) Isla Fisher
2)
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Who saves the world? Does Superman save the world? No. Motherfucking Toby Ziegler saves the world

3) For fuck's sake, play the damned tune, Snyder.

Do you mean the original, or the remake?

They were both good, just very different films.

I love the grammatically incorrect news subtitles in this film - every time they flip to news coverage, it's "Terrorist attack the White House".

Tried to watch the new Evil Dead film last night but they killed a dog in the first 30 minutes and that was enough for me; off it went. If anyone thinks it's the best thing in the world I'll watch the rest but it didn't seem to be a patch on the original.

I thought that was ok, but a really cheesy version of Incepticon. It was like an extended episode of Twilight Zone, but lacking that intangible awesomeness.

Olympus Has Fallen was okay,in the end.

I'm 6 minutes into the second GI Joe film, and it's brilliant. BRILLIANT. The Rock is awesome.

Shame Sienna Miller doesn't seem to be in it.

The new Superman man is the same guy who played Charles Brandon (Lord Suffolk) in The Tudors. Craster scale per minute that is the highest constant 1 rating of any screen entertainment ever.
