My idiotic namesake has registered an ebay account with my email address. Usually I just ignore the idiot and his travels aorund the internet, but I thought I'd best let ebay know about this one and get it switched off by them.

This is the response I got from the chat lady

I contact customer services first, and if and when they don't comply, and I continue to receive e-mails I can't unsubscribe from, I log in and change all their details so their name is "Idiot Mc Duckface" or something.

Already tried that, you need more info than the user id and email to reset a password on ebay. Things like pet names, phone numbers etc...

Apparently I have to call the security call centre, which I tried and was told there was a 25 minute queue.
I wouldn't bother, but he has left the email spam options ticked on the account, which I can't go in and turn off.

Filter and delete?

I do have a filter setup for the usual address he uses, but this time he has used a variant that I actually use occasionally, so I can't filter on that. Plus I do use ebay quite a bit, so cant filter ebay stuff out.
It's all a bit tricky.

I have filtered on the ebay username he created, that should do it.

No, but he has registered using an email address which is the same as an email address I use occasionally.

And Trooper uses '[email protected]' for his ocado shopping, or something.

It's due to the way gmail works, if you register as [email protected] you also get [email protected]

Idiot uses [email protected], which I never use, so filtering that out is easy, however this time he used [email protected], which I do use very very occasionally (mainly for my domain account emails which I don't use a trooperlooper.co.uk email address for, for obvious reasons), plus I sometimes use it if I want to be official. CVs and the like.
