Doesn't this eman you car a lot about it? Although the opposite is "overestimate the immensity of the f*ck you are capable of" so he'd say 10 and you'd say 1 but i dunno, now.

Nope. You have understimated how big the f*ck is I can't give - so I can't give a very big f*ck. i.e. I really don't give a f*ck.

This sounds like a serious problem.

Anyone here tried on-line dating?

Some big woman with no sense of humour is attempting to woo me by being a bit mental. I've ignored her last five messages over 2 hours and now she's just sent me a picture of a rose. Yay! A picture of a rose; yeah, that's what men love. No means no, woman!

I can't find the block button on this stupid app. Gah.

Many years ago we had an "office contest" where we all joined a dating site and wrote the best profile we could to see who could get the most "hits" in a week. The rules were that we had to use a picture of ourselves, but we could go as nuts as we liked in the description, education, job, etc.

I won by miles, because I put myself in the "men seeking men" section :)

Oooh. Well, I was bordering on cancelling Lovefilm, and they've only gone and stuck Dexter on there. That's our viewing sorted for a while, then. Next they need to put The Wire on there.

Never really noticed before, but that looks a lot like the casing from the (presumably later) Spectrum +2/+2A/+3.

It's deliberate. Sugar wanted the same all in one design that had made the CPC successful. He hated the idea of external tape recorders and Sinclair's naff keyboards.

Pages 298 to 308 in Sugar's autobiography are fascinating reading for anyone interested in computers of that era. Full account of how the Sinclair deal came about and how little time Amstrad had to design the +2 and get it to market. Although the deal was done in April, the completed machines had to be on a boat by August or they would miss the Christmas trade.

The designer of the case for the +2 was in Hong Kong and had a couple of days to knock up a design based on pictures in trade magazines and the existing designs used for the CPC. He had never seen a real Spectrum. It was all rushed through at enormous speed and Sugar had spent 10 grand on tooling and had started the process of having the first 100,000 machines made before he was even 100% sure he would get the deal.

Christmas 1986 they sold 300,000 +2's! So he did something right.

I can't think of a single occasion for which that dress would not be wholly appropriate.

Apparently this is it, it doesn't seem at all ridiculous and you've got to wonder what kind of fanny takes time out of their day to complain about that.

ETA: to be fair to the Beeb it's a non-apology apology where they say they're sorry people felt offended but not actually sorry for anything they did. I like to imagine it being said in a really sarcastic voice that heavily implies there's something seriously wrong with the complainants for being offended at all.

HAHAHA. The online test doesn't display properly as I only have IE8. Also, 8 or nine peer reviewed papers in high impact academic journals, I dont think I should have to do these. Anyway, as a result of these display issues, I'll be going home an hour early to do it. or I'll take the graduate scheme lass to the tramshed and we'll get pissed at lunchtime. Option 2 is better.

We could phone in and endorse the dress to balance out the complaints?

"While we did receive a number of complaints about Holly's dress this was far exceeded by the number of people calling for more of that type of thing. It seems the average license payer is very much in favour of boobs and we at the BBC are happy to heed that call."

I went through a job agency looking for computer programming jobs a few years back. With a degree in Maths + Comp Sci and several years programming experience, they thought the best thing for me to do was to take a typing speed test.

Heh. I was annoyed but then Grim... made a game of it and I was the hero!

Just had a call frmo a recruiter, and a job that sounds interesting so hoepfully something might come of this. I'm still openly taking calls from people about jobs at work now, and happy to be overheard by my bosses saying "my current contract is up on 31st July, so am available from 1st August".

In two sentences, someone's out of office reply has managed to spell a word incorrectly, and his boss's name. Fucking ace.

Also, a present for Grim...

Ministry Holly was so fucking hot. I used to drag myself out of bed hungover as fuck on a Saturday morning just to watch her.
I still watch this when I want to cheer myself up (although when she was being Polly with her trolley or when she was in her school uniform it pretty much broke me (see the second half of this video too see it and see a properly good joke)).

So Microsoft have quietly dropped their ludicrous charges for issuing patches for XBLA games (while reserving the right to reinstate if if they feel a developer is taking the piss with the number of updates it issues; so presumably a punishment for people who aren't doing the level of testing they should be). No word of whether they'll retain the same policy for the Xbone which is interesting, if they were intending to drop the charge permanently you'd think they'd be shouting it from the rooftops given that better indie support is something that has many people looking to the PS4.

I wonder if this means Polytron will finally patch the game save corruption bug that stopped my Fez playthrough in it's tracks? Not that I'd necessarily go back and play it again anyway as it was annoying me quite a bit even before that but I might get a walkthrough and just bang through the rest of it.
