I'd also be interested if you get the same as I do and have one person who obviously wants a brand new item asking really annoying questions that would require you to do something so 'do you have the original box' and the bit of cellophane that the plug was wrapped in , can you find out if there is any warranty left on it , can you tell me if the base has a little sticker to say serial number or is it carved into the case , and of course after answering all of their questions they respond with "whats your buy it now price"

I've installed Mountain Lion on it. But the thought suddenly occurs that now Apple tie the OS to the Apple ID this may not work and the user may need to purchase a new copy of the OS? Any ideas?

You could roll it back to SL (or whatever) and inform the buyer that if they want to upgrade, it's on their head.

Updates are now done via the Apple Application store.

So you have to validate your OS install for a minor update?

The new owner would have to buy their own license and activate it then. An Apple Genius© could sort that for them I reckon.
