Hi folks.

Because I don't want Russell to spend loads of time looking at how to do something for me that may not be possible, does anyone know if the following is achievable.

Russell owns finditcheapest.com and has web hosting linked to that address.

Now, we've bought a web domain for a little project, but hosting costs are prohibitive.

So: is it possible to build the website in a sub domain of finditcheapest.com and then either get the new URL we have bought to point at it and display all pages under it as newproject.com/pagename

Or

Change the name servers so that one domain forwards to the other. These may essentially be the same thing, but it's a bit confusing and we can't tell if either are possible.

Just so as nobody answers this needlessly, we are trying to use blogger instead, which will make it easy.

Depending on your hosting control panel, you should be able to "park" a domain on the existing hosting.

If it's a CPanel server, there'll be an option for "Add-On Domains" - you can add the new domain you've bought to this, and also tell it which folder on the hosting account to use as the "root" of the site.

So, if you had the new site at http://www.finditcheapest.com/russandmimimakes you would tell the "Add-On Domain" to use "/public_html/russandmimimakes" as the folder.

Does that make sense? If not, happy to help over PM or something if you can't work out which bits to go to in your existing control panels :)

Thank you lovely. We did find that eventually, but Russell's site was not set up to provide any, so we have ended up putting something together on blogger, but thank you xxx

Cheers GazChap. It looked like Add-On domain was what we wanted rather than parked domain or sub domain from the cpanel options as you said, but I don't have any included in my hosting sadly.

Still, it looks like a lot of the Blogspot restrictions have been removed since I last used it, such as not having to have the Blogger navbar as a permanent feature, so the experiment continues!

Yeah, but you don't use the forum any more, right? ;)
