Dear Tin of beans

I'd like to thank sausage for this opportunity, but unfortunately carrots mean I must hand in my potatoes.
It has been a loaf of bread to work here and I wish you all the tinned tomatoes in the future.

My last pint of milk will be melons.

Yours sincerely

Love that article, cheers! Those people are the modern equivalent of the faded glam rock fans when I was growing up.

Such anachronism becomes oddly poignant when I consider that was 'my' era.

Also: I do have a soft spot for the blonde with the hilariously-sized trousers.

I don't mind them. I like "Don't Stay" and I like most of Reanimation - mind you, that's a different genre of music.

Well, turns out that's Linkin Park :)

Okay, I like Rollin' and Take a Look Around, then.

On the subject of fizzy drinks, I received a bottle of Mezzo Mix yesterday. It's an orange-flavoured cola found in the German speaking countries. Which tastes exactly like the limited edition Coca Cola with Orange we got six years ago. Because, err, it almost certainly is the same stuff, as some quick Google reserach reveals Mezzo Mix to be a Coca Cola brand. So yeah, it didn't exactly taste pleasant, IMO.

The bottle itself was all scuffed to buggery on the outside incidentally, and was much thicker plastic than our 500ml plastic Coke bottles. In Germany drink bottles get reused, glass milk bottle style, and I've been told that supermarkets there have 'reverse vending machines' to collect the used bottles. Cool idea, possibly.

The Offy used to give you money if you took back your glass Coca-Cola or Hartridges bottles. The big bottles of Hartridges would yield 10p which was nearly a quarter of the price of the drink you had purchased. So well worth doing.

Hartridges still exist but no longer have a massive range of fizzy drinks. Their Cola can still be found in some pubs across the South and is actually quite good. Their orange squash is the best bar none but again these days only pubs serve it. If I see it behind a bar, my drink of choice is a pint of orange squash!

I just searched again to find some and found somewhere that stocks it for £1.22 a bottle. Hoorah! I go through the ordering process and then find that delivery is a flat rate of £20!!!!!

It is a flat rate. So I guess the idea is you order stuff in bulk.

So back to square one!

Which reminds me, at primary school during lunch the dinner ladies served up either Orange or Lemon Hartridges squash. That's how I first came across it. The Lemon was quite good as well actually.

Still want to get hold of some but short of opening a pub (which seems to be the only way to get hold if it these days) I'm out of luck.

Bloody supermarkets closing down our local shops which sold our local drinks!

One of the companies who provide a lot of the machines that will process those returned bottles also provide a lot of the machines at my work. During a training sessions with the manufacturer for another machine we had, he showed us a video of their other machines at work, just as a sort of interesting thing. When the bottle is returned, it gets 'decontaminated' I suppose is a good word for it, then put onto a production line. Apparently, quite a few bottles are rejected at the decontamination stage because the contents between being sold with a soft drink in and returned empty, have at one point included petrol, chemicals, or human waste :spew:

Recruitment consultant called me up a moment ago to tell me the IT firm I interviewed at on Wednesday are "really pleased" that I've agreed to come back for the second interview/technical test on Monday. She reckons I'm their favourite candidate and are planning on giving me a firm answer by Monday evening.

I do wish people wouldn't get my hopes up. If I fuck it up now, I'm going to be absolutely gutted. I'm really not feeling this current job I've started at all, nice as (most)* of the people are, whilst this other job seemed almost tailor made for me.

*I parked in a totally unmarked parking space outside the office this morning, went in, started up my PC, then had a panicked PA run up to me to tell me I'd parked in one of the director's spaces and that he's a "nasty bastard" who "gets really funny" at other people parking in the space he's decided is his. Apparently he's quite fond of blocking people in that do that and refusing to move until an hour or two after clocking off time. He sounds a delight.

Yes, this. "I don't feel that elements of the directors treat the workforce with the respect that is conducive to a healthy professional relationship. And X is a cunt".

On similar lines, we are currently trying to get long term civil servants used to the concept of hot-desking.
You can imagine how well that is going.

"I am hot-desking, anyone is free to use my desk if i'm not in the office that day" :D

So far I've had a cooked breakfast, a mini pasty, 5 cocktail sausages, a slice of carrot cake, a fondant fancy and 3 onion bargiis. Pretty good.

3 volumes is generally good enough to get rid of most contaminents that were in solution.
