Gunpoint is a clicky-runny-stealthy-rewire-em-up, and it's tugging my wallet hard.

Everyone seems to think it's ace. Anyone played it?

Unusually there's a demo for it on Steam so you could give it a shot. I saw the coverage and briefly considered it myself before remembering how many PC games I've bought recently that are unplayed.

I'd just about given up on gaming forever, but Gunpoint is tugging my wallet too.

Having to install Steam is far more of an issue than the fiver it costs.

So don't install Steam then, it's not mandatory.

The trailer I watched, very likely the one in that Kotaku review, said Gunpoint is purchased through Steam. I assumed that having Steam was a pre-requisite for buying things through Steam.

I'm not sure that's true, their website does have a link to the Steam page for the game but it can also be bought directly from their site. The 'buy directly' option says, "Buy now and get Gunpoint for Windows, DRM-free and a Steam key!" So they'll give you a download of it and an optional Steam key if you want it. Even the demo can be downloaded directly without going through Steam.

Huh. Their trailer is broken and nearly cost them at least $9, then.

If anyone is interested in game+soundtrack-editor, it's cheaper to buy the game then go to bandcamp for the soundtrack.

I played an early build of this ages ago, and it was already super promising.

I have it. It's pretty fun, but I don't like the up/down to interact control scheme. That's the control scheme of a one-button Amiga game.

Also: everything is tiny and hard to see.

Look at it through the wrong end of a telescope.
